Subject: 2022 PVS JO Qualifying Times - When will they be published?
I think the younger times are easier but PVS generally does well at Zones, so the fastest swimmers in the LC are pretty comparable to other programs.
And, yes, in club swim, you swim your age on the day of the meet (different than summer league). So your kid would swim at 10 at JOs this year and 11 at Jos next year.

Yeah, my daughter has a late December birthday and her swim friend has a late march birthday. The December birthday is a little frustrating when it comes to JOs. The March birthday friend has a sweet deal!
sorry, I am not following - which month is the "best" birthday then, what are the rules for age, is it calendar based ie calendar year, or is it how old you are on the day of the actual meet? So in theory you would change age groups mid swim season? Thanks
Yes, your age group is based on your age on the first day of a meet.

Is your kid young? The times are easy if you’re 10 and under. For my 13 year old boy, the times are closer to a AA than A- -much closer.

Yup, these aren't much changed from past years. Slower than some LSCs, faster than others!

LCM: long course meters - 50M pool length - Olympics and typically summer club season races
SCY: short course yards- 25y pool length - winter club, college, high school races
SCM: short course meters - 25M pool length - summer swim leagues
NP here. Can anyone tell me the history of why indoor pools are 25 yards but outdoors is 25M? I was thinking it was just saving space but that does not really make sense as 25 yards is not that much shorter to make a difference.
I am not sure why they are meters unless at a certain point there was a movement to get us lined up with the international community. But this link is a good explanation.

When exactly do you think kids are getting these cut times? Most of them get them in December. If a kid already has cut times in events, they can choose different events and get more cuts in different events. If they don't and are close, they swim those events in December. Our team's deadline for entry in our December meet is on Monday.
step 1: look at previous year cuts, they will be similar
step 2: put kid in events they are best at or close to those cuts
step 3: calm down and enjoy your child's swim career by not obsessing about cut times.
