She said they have it easy and Global keeps a bus on campus that they use to trek all over the place while SMACS kids work, compute and work some more even after all the other kids go home. But, my DD loves Math and Science, the teachers, the cool challenges and internship/programs they get invited to so I promise her I will take her to all the cool places Global goes to during the summer to make sure she has fun too. Go for it OP or PP.
Can you please elaborate What are the cool internships/ programs they get invited to?

SMCS is the best curriculum and best magnet program in Montgomery County for the RIGHT student. If your kid is the right student, you know. The kid who at a regular school was taking Algebra 2 in 8th and bored because it was so easy etc, winning math competitions etc. If your kid beat the TP Magnet kids at MathCounts- you are a good candidate.
If my kid had been offered both Global and Blair SMCs and we lived down county, SMCs would be the better choices he to logistics/ traffic.
I heard Frost once beat some TPMS magnet kids at a math contest a few years ago when their A team was competing with local high schools... Not sure how this will play out though with the new 85% criteria.

and her homework has things like "sit in your quite spot in nature for 15 minutes! " ... well even I am jealous of my daughter , I don't remember school being so much fun ever! Coming from Math Sci in Middle school, which was a lot of work, this has been a breath of fresh air for her. AND she gets time for sports and other extra curricular as well.

Anonymous wrote:PP I would definitely argue against Global kids having it easy. My straight A 9th grader (first marking period) worked very hard for his grades often up at 1-2 am.
