For our 40 degree winters this feels like over kill. Lands End is fine.

Nothing. It is a warm solid brand. But the middle class wears it now.

Can you list some cute and very warm ones?

I have an Audvik coat and that is my favorite. Quartz Co, Nobis, Kanuk are very nice made in Canada brands as well

are you from Chicago by any chance?

No... BUT my friend from Chicago is the one who introduced me to this brand!

And…all their stuff is made in China. Woolrich is not a high end brand. Their parkas are probably one of their better items, but still way overpaying for sweatshop work of moderate quality. If you are going to pay $1000+ buy a better brand made in Canada

Another option besides trying to find sales is looking on The Real Real.

Agreed although I do have a big old Patagonia parka for walking the dog because it’s nice to be overdressed for that when it’s cold. Because it’s not long enough to warm up from the exercise and I like feeling cocooned and to not feel the cold at all if I’m quick enough.

PP who’s always freezing and has a 10+ year old CG here. Thank you! This coat is just what I need when I replace my CG. Form and function, but without the logos.

$1,095 ?? For a coat that you could get at same level of warmth from Land's End, LLbean or north face for a fraction of the cost? Some of the brands like LE, LL do not have logos on all of their parkas.

I sold my mackage coat. These are made for places like Canada or Minnesota. It’s just not cold enough here.

I grew up in Chicago and lived in VT and Toronto before moving to DC. Suffice to say, I've experienced varying types of winter and have had countless types of winter wear. I bought a version of this a few years ago for walking to work during cold streaks - here in DC - https://www.landsend.com/products/womens-winter-maxi-long-down-coat-with-hood/id_327570?attributes=8063,43398,44256,44967. It is PLENTY warm, regularly goes on sale for 20-30% off, but there's no visible labeling.

Yes, people in Canada are paying for it, usually, their company buys it for them if they needed it for work.
People in southern Canada do not have them. People up north might if they can afford them.
I have been in Canada since December, on and off, and have not seen anyone wear them in private life, so to say.
