To state that volvo lacks status because it is owned by a chinese company implies that volvo had status when it was owned by a swedish company. Which it did not.

The Zhejiang Geely Holding Group bought it from Ford Co. over 10 years ago.

Don’t tell my neighbors! They have a Volvo because they only want European cars. They look down on the Japanese cars!! 😀

This. Volvo is like a chinese person with bleached blonde hair.

Next time you see a smug person with a Volvo, tell them “nice Chinese car you got there”

What a racist thing to say.

Race is implied when some posters here think that Volvo is European.
It is funny that, Volvo is Chinese owned. Call them as you see 'em.

I don't own a Volvo. But if I did and you approached me to say "Hey nice CHINESE car you got there" I would think you're a racist lunatic for leading with that comment.

Read the room, doofus.

Yeah, I am a lot more subtle- I ask if they got some egg too yung with the car.

Gimme a damn break and shovel your DEI right up your keister.

Once Mercedes introduced an option to illuminate the Mercedes logo at night, they choose which demographic to appeal to and which to alienate

+1

There was a time when Mercedes meant something, and owners were proud of their stamped blue service books.

As a prank, we should all have a bunch of China flag stickers in our bags and if you see a Volvo in a parking lot, stick a ccp flag on the back bumper when the owner isn’t looking/not there

We call our Volvo our entry level luxury car.

If Volvo ever had a status (in my eyes, at least) it was "suburban soccer mom who didn't want a minivan."

I don’t know or care if it is but we do love our XC90 plug in hybrid.

Yeah it’s sad because merc right now is making some fantastic cars. They’re getting back to the 80s 90s Daimler.

New s and e class is killer.

EQS and eqe are killer.

2022 c class is no joke.

The night club vibes though are such a turn off to otherwise really good cars.

You don't have to order the car with the illuminated star. You can turn off ambient lighting.

I feel like a black Volvo was the quintessential DC mom or dad car circa late 80s/early 90s.
