Well he did put them in a boys league at U9 in the spring. And yes - as another poster commented, most of the competitive teams play up a year, and some in 2 leagues as well. Should they have been in the top bracket for this spring.... probably not.

That begs the question of development vs winning. I see some folks take one side or another, when IMO there really needs to be a balance.

Every time I read about a BSC coach I have no familiarity with and see a bunch of negative comments- I think, is this a bunch of DCUM BS or is this real info.

You want real info: BM just led our 2016’s into a wood chipper. 1 point, devastating losses, -21 goal differential. Finished behind another 2016 team also playing up. Huge setback for the girls in their progression, they were playing much better soccer skill wise last fall. Others parents on the team are on something if they think any of this was good for our girls. So many players crying this spring from this losses after what looked like a good start to the year. BM did not make any changes within game or game to game to make things more competitive. He just dialed it in this spring. No wonder we and several others are leaving BSC after this experience and will gladly let the door on this sinking ship hit me on the way out.

Just saw what you are talking about. Why would he think being in the same division with your 2015 top team and most of the top 2015 teams in the area would be helpful? Wood chipper is exactly what I would call that too. Both 2016 teams got buzz sawed. Poor girls. You can play up but keep realistic (I see your 2 team played up in Division 4 and did well). I hope your daughter recovers from that and has a great year next year.

I have zero insight into this specifically but knowing how some of these decisions have worked in the past, it may not have been his. But he may have been able to more strongly advocate to get out.

He told us it was his decision… So unless he was lying, he owns it.

I echo these sentiments. I have no idea why you were playing up in 9v9 when 7v7 is better for your long-term development. People need to be open to playing with boys if you are not challenged on the girls side. Stick them into boys EDP Futures 2nd division to start.

This is becoming the norm around here for stronger teams. They start moving to 9v9 at u10 and 11v11 at u12. Jeff cup even added this in several years back.

There are some EDP divisions where half or more of the teams are playing up.

That was a horrible decision to have you guys play in the top division. Can I ask what club you guys went too?

Level set, to be fair.
0-1 Boys will go on to pro per year and or be rostered to a youth national team
4-6 boys will play division one soccer (rostered, some reverse scholarship)
0-2 girls per year will go on to pro or semi pro (DC Power) and or be rostered to a youth national team.
8-10 girls will play division one soccer (rostered, some reverse scholarship)
6-12 girls will play division three soccer (rostered, some reverse scholarship)

BSC is not really a JUCO or D2 org.

These numbers will be similar on the girls side to Arlington and Union if they get their stuff together. Boys numbers will track slightly smaller for Arlington, way smaller for Union, and heavier on D2/Non-Academic D3 for SYC. I do not have insight into Alexandria

Because GFR is slowly taking over BSC via NM and he is having teams practice on GFR fields. The older girls practice in Great Falls, Reston, and Tysons. It's absurd.

Many of the players live near those areas. It makes sense if you want to recruit from a wider area, and poach players from other clubs, you need to cast a wider net and not just limit where your players live.

Nonsense. It is for NM’s convenience. It also dilutes the power that BSC historically had in MoCo as the “only” competitive soccer club in the area for families who didn’t want to travel to VA. Now players are fleeing from BSC to Virginia clubs of their own accord because they don’t want to take the abuse and know VA practices are in their future anyway. The 2015s are Exhibit A.

Are you implying that they are being abused this year and leaving because of it?

Not OP but my understanding is that several 2015s left because of their limited interactions with KL combined with his reputation.
