Much more parity amongst the top teams. Good to see.
I assume there will be a lot of movement as these girls go to high school, is it worth going to a tryout for M&D or Sep they already know who they’re after by now
Expect more player movement this summer than usual. Most teams should stay largely intact unless a roster really implodes. The only team set to disband at the end of this season is BLC. The big question is where those players will land. Will Capital pick them up, or will they head north to an established, known Baltimore team?
Is there are around 24 BLC players at best half will make Capital Blue, then the rest will be scrambling between Orange and other teams within an hour, depends who has spots for their second string
When are Capital tryouts?
6/17
I don’t think that’s right. Think it’s in mid July but the clinics start soon
https://www.capitallacrosseclub.com/clinics - look here, clearly stats 6/17 tryouts for 2030
Do most who are planning to try out go to the clinics to be seen in advance?
Yes to the clinics, I like the idea that it gives players more than a short 90-120 minute tryout window to get evaluated.
This is assuming that the people running the clinics are legitimately evaluators vs. a clinic for just getting in extra reps.
It is called out earlier in the thread that the roster for the Blue Team is likely already penciled in for a majority of the team, the more I hear the more I believe that is true.
Anyone else have an opinion on how worthwhile the clinics actually are?
Any other opinions out there about the roster already being set?
I've heard that there is a a set number of spots that are dedicated to the academy players, but no guarantee of which team you would be on.
Capital has tryouts and announces their blue & orange teams before summer tournaments are over? So girls on BLC, YJ DMV, M&D DC, MDU Bethesda, Stars, etc could all be committed to a new team but have to play out their summer with their current team?
Seems to be the case.
Good they're doing this IMO. Makes the decision making process easier if they didn't get into Capital. Teams will have a sense of who's left and what positions they need to fill. It won't be a mystery.
Th only reason capital is moving their tryouts earlier is so they don’t lose out on better players that would otherwise go to Baltimore teams.
That may be true but it also helps other teams sort out roster needs. It’s a win for everyone.
