I don’t believe she was kidnapped. I think someone was hired to kill her and make it look like a kidnapping.

I don’t believe she was kidnapped. I think someone was hired to kill her and make it look like a kidnapping.

I think it's now at that point the news stations *except for maybe NBC) will need to slowly decrease coverage. Hopefully she can manage some of this from home so she will be able to see her children in person without them missing school. It's great dad is there, but I would want to be with my kids.

It’s hard to say. True crime is definitely having a moment. There are far less famous people that get people get caught up in and are covered heavily- maybe not in the mainstream news, but tons of digital creators and podcasters cover the story obsessively.

This is a different case though because Savannah is supposed to be on our TV every day and her colleagues can’t just move on without acknowledging what is happening so I think that definitely adds to it. This is going to be a story at least for the today show and NBC for a long time.

I do think it is because she is a well known news anchor's mother. I think it is a tricky situation for the major news stations to start dropping off in terms of coverage, because of course the family wants coverage to continue until she is found, and the family in this case is a major news anchor. I am sure NBC especially feels obligated to continue a high level of coverage. I do wonder how, and when, the coverage will start dwindling. Obviously I hope she is found so this can be a non issue.

I do not remember this much coverage for children who go missing- beyond a few days, and there are children who go missing that we never hear about. I read a helicopter equipped with technology to find her pacemaker has been flying around but it would need to get pretty close to ping. I’m wondering if it would work only if she’s alive or if it could ping if it’s no longer functioning.

This is giving me flashbacks to the Relisha Rudd case, where I thought at the time that she surely would be found. I think Mrs. Guthrie is never going to be found. How tragic.
