Better results than what? Winning the top bracket of Jeff cup? Finishing in 2nd place in conference play with just 1 loss? And no, no one has ML in their pocket. He's a tough but fair coach. He has a great reputation and every parent I know whose daughter played for him has nothing but good things to say, whether they played for him in Herndon, DMV FC, or McLean. Stop trying to create a false narrative. The "Dutch guy" doesn't have a good record and Brave families will tell you they are disappointed he's on the coaching slate.

Nice try, but not true. Most Brave players and families have embraced these upcoming changes only because MV is involved.

Not a false narrative this is the truth. Call me what you will, but I've been spot on for all this since page 1 of this thread. MV is well regarded, respected, and appreciated by Brave families. Notice I didn't say liked. They will certainly follow him to Union, IF they are able to make the team. He's not sentimental so he will put best team together from who shows up to tyouts and IDs. The fact that 7 Brave offers were made at 2010s speaks volumes to not his favoritism to Brave players, but the reality that half of the current Union team is not coming back, thats on ML and MYS parents specifically. If the team that just won Jeff Cup was bringing everyone back and just reloading with 2-3 best players at Brave, and 2-3 other solid players in NoVa making moves then sure my narrative is wrong. The truth is the team will be different, and ML had to bend and invite 7 Brave players. We all know only 2-3 should have been added, but when you lose talent you got be creative so more offers had to be made to the inferior group of players.

MV is in over his head regardless of what VYS parents who never had ECNL aspirations before believe. The reality is the BRAVE families lucked out that they will inherit McLean experience and connections because MV has zero pull with college coaches.

MV puts 4 players in college. LOL

MV is like every other coach in this area that knows how to survive in youth soccer. Make some pitch (in MV’s case it’s some BS about Dutch soccer philosophy) to recruit the best players you can. Throw them on the field w no real coaching philosophy or style other than play a very defensive set and boot the ball up to the star players and hope they can win games on their individual brilliance. If they win, kiss the star players asses so they stay and claim victory. If they lose, blame LO.

So are FXU players going to the Dutch Summer camp he pushes every year or NM's Total Futbol???? My choice of overpriced camps.....check.

Second, what do you mean when you say “parents have XX coach in their pocket”? If all the McLean parents have this coach in pocket, then do all their kids get minutes? But if that’s the case, then do any of them really have a difference in influence? Are they paying him under the table? Like, passion g over envelopes of cash? Because I have never seen anything like that. I have most definitely seen coaches who have favorites, including playing kids who are struggling far longer than they should, instead of giving other kids a chance. But in most cases, you could kind of see some reason why (kid was tall/fast/good attitude/gritty).

The usual way parents pay coaches is via privates.

The usual way parents pay clubs is via camps.

This is all on top of regular club fees.

It is soccer. There is no conflict of interest. Where does it state that the coach can't do private training?
Club camps are open to everyone it is not inclusive. You have the option to enroll or not enroll. You are mad because you didn't

No, most likely they're mad because the business of youth sports has made this type of quid pro quo into standard operating procedure.

Camps are a different beast - but private sessions giving money directly to a coach who will be involved in choosing teams? It doesn't take a genius to see how it's gotten out of control. That's a fact.

Did you ever think these parents just like the coach and are being nice? I’ve done this before with zero ulterior motives.

Ulterior motives or not, it certainly gives the appearance of impropriety. And who knows how it's taken by the coach?

Yep, the "private coaching" thing is pretty much just a conduit for pay-for-play spots on higher teams, especially at younger levels. It runs rampant at McLean, Arlington for sure. Pretty gross.

This is a serious question.

Boys tryouts are only halfway done. I would imagine more offers will be going out soon. The "imbalance" that people are worried about may balance out in the end. At least one would hope.

Honestly we don’t. My son did get an offer and the offer said not to talk about it and we’re not. It won’t help politics, friendships or anything else. Kids talk but honestly he only knows one other kid who has mentioned it and he goes to school with kids and is on the Snap and text thread.
So I have no idea if 2 kids or 22 have been given offers. He is going to the last two tryouts and we’re all hoping the best team comes out of this, no matter where they come from.
All this talk that all offers are given and how many from each side is just people looking to cause mayhem.
I’ve never been in a situation where offers get talked about that openly by parents or kids once they are old enough to have a little bit of empathy.
It feels very different than what is portrayed here.

One mom and kid have been blabbing all over town and I do know the kids were showing each other emails and such.

It's just a complete sh*tshow. But--don't succomb to the panic. My kids have walked on MLSNext and ECNL over the summer when proving themselves against the current team. And--there are always so many kids added mid-season, etc.

I learned not to just grab the first offer that comes for FOMO.

True. I had a kid sit out an entire year due to injury.

What has been true in our household, each.and.every.time---is that when one door closes, they have always ended up in a better situation, better team, etc.

Yes. And many kids have had to miss one for various personal reasons--injury, illness, high school, etc. It's too early.

06/07s.. yep true.. he grabbed a group of boys from his old valor team.

Took his high school team if we are talking about same group. Or maybe it's a repeat with a different coach. lol

But its a conflict of interest or at least the appearance of one. Ideally the coaches decline this sort of stuff but that depends on the coach and usually how senior they are.

Only 1-2 are leaving to SYC, rumors about Arlington, VDA and NVA are unfounded. Some players may have been seen at other ID's due to the circumstances at hand but all will stay if offers are extended. Perhaps this is MYS's way of punishment for wandering outside MYS during ID season. The fact that Brave has 7 is crazy and that MYS did not lock down 95% of the Union girls after the first ID session is just baffling when they are #2 in the MA with 1 loss, Jeff Cup top bracket champions, ECNL playoff bound and a top 15 team in the nation. Someone explain that to me.

Where is it confirmed the number of offers given and accepted and to whom?
This is all just trouble-stirring otherwise.

It is absolutely the case that offers are going out to the other clubs over MYS across age groups. It’s a total fialure of leadership on MYS’ part and isn’t necessarily talent driven. The club wants to blame ECNL, but they are doing NOTHING to support their girls or help their cause in allowing this to happen. Where is the famous CW in all of this? Getting run over by MV? This does not signal strength or equal partnership at all.

If MV had done an excellent job with Brave, they would not be in this mess with McLean.

Brave is what 2 years old, what are you talking about? And before that he was VYS. If he was BRYC than sure maybe you have an argument cause they were a mess, and probably still are. And dirty laundry is out already both MYS abd Brave were failing, NEXT!

For 2 years, the club did improve. Look at his 09G record. I guess it doesn't count.

A lot of y'all are terrible at hiding fear.

You make up scenarios in your mind, state them as fact them low key freak out. "What is happening?" "Tell me how this makes sense!" "Someone explain this to me."
