Subject: Worst hollywood casting decision ever?

Denzel is way to soft and pretty. I can see how Spike Lee would actually be inspired to take on a project like "Malcom X" with Laurence Fishbourne. I wonder if they had some sort of falling out, causing Lee to go with Denzel for that movie. Ugh. I just cannot forgive/forget.
Denzel was excellent as Malcolm X. Only thing off was skin tone, but Denzel became Malcolm. I remember sitting in the packed theater when the movie came out. Denzel was robbed of the Oscar. Laurence Fishbourne would have been wrong for the role. Too big physically and I can't see him doing the mannerisms. Malcolm X was refined. Denzel played that role. He even got his smile right.

Luke Perry and Gabrielle Carteris in 90210. They may have passed for high schoolers the first couple of seasons, but both looked 40 by the time senior year rolled around.

Also - Goodfellas is SO overrated. It is nearly unwatchable. I have never understood the obsession with it.
Dances With Wolves was fantastic, and for everyone on this thread basing good/bad casting decision assessments solely on race (rather then acting) while simultaneously shitting on Kevin Costner, maybe keep in mind that DWW was the first major Hollywood movie to cast actual Native Americans in Native roles and have them speak in actual Native American language(s) rather than the previous go-to of white guys speaking gibberish.

Not sure what you're referring to, but Denzel Washington had signed on to the project even before Spike Lee had, when Norman Jewison was to be the director.

Everyone (Hanks, Willis, Melanie Griffith etc.) in Bonfire of the Vanities. None of the major casting choices made sense compared to the very popular novel. This should have been a box office success but instead was a flop largely because of poor casting.

OMG the absolute worst and most embarrassing Keanu is whoever thought it was a good idea to cast him in SHAKESPEARE.
Agree on Keanu in Branagh's Much Ado about Nothing being TERRIBLE. And Michael Keaton was also terrible and miscast in that movie.

Casino is better, though.
They both suck. UNWATCHABLE! In fact, MOST Scorsese movies suck. I don’t get the obsession with the mafia, but the Godfather is more than enough to represent that entire genre IMO.

It’s not out yet but I’m going to add Chalomet as Paul Atreides and while I love Momoa I can’t see him as Duncan Idaho.
