I have no idea why that happened- can anyone enlighten me?
It seemed like Spike Lee was working happily with Laurence Fishbourne, who- to me, is an obvious choice for Malcom X. but then suddenly Denzel appears in the movie and absolutely ruined it for me. Denzel is way to soft and pretty. I can see how Spike Lee would actually be inspired to take on a project like "Malcom X" with Laurence Fishbourne. I wonder if they had some sort of falling out, causing Lee to go with Denzel for that movie. Ugh. I just cannot forgive/forget.

Wrong. Loved "Dances with Wolves".
Good God. I can't decide which was worse--his terrible acting or terrible directing.
Yeah, it only won seven Oscars, with another five nominations. What garbage.
But please, do tell us more. You're really putting that B- you got in the Intro to Film Studies class you took 25 years ago to good use.
Oh please. Goodfellas losing the Oscar to Dances with Wolves is one of the most embarrassing awards in Oscar history.
No, that's Shakespeare in Love winning over Elizabeth.
+1
Also - Goodfellas is SO overrated. It is nearly unwatchable. I have never understood the obsession with it.
Dances With Wolves was fantastic, and for everyone on this thread basing good/bad casting decision assessments solely on race (rather then acting) while simultaneously shitting on Kevin Costner, maybe keep in mind that DWW was the first major Hollywood movie to cast actual Native Americans in Native roles and have them speak in actual Native American language(s) rather than the previous go-to of white guys speaking gibberish.

Yeah, but at least she looks good.
So top picks so far:
Julia Roberts as Tinker Bell
Hayden Christensen as A. Skywalker
Keanu in any movie other than action roles (Matrix, Speed, Wick) or dumb-s$&t roles (Bill & Ted, Parenthood)
Meryl Streep in non-drama roles
Will Ferrell as the lead (great as a side kick, but never, ever cast him as the lead).
And Kevin Hart, Dustin Hoffman, or Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher.
OMG the absolute worst and most embarrassing Keanu is whoever thought it was a good idea to cast him in SHAKESPEARE.![]()

Totally disagree on Goodfellas. "Nearly unwatchable"?! Come on.
Casino is better, though.
