Also your advice seems realistic in hypotheticals but when the car jacking is actually happening people can only hope they would act the way they always bragged they would. But until the sh!t hits the fan people usually act much differently than they expected. They panic. Their instincts take over. So you can preach and preach and victim blame but you have zero way of ever knowing how you would react until you’re actually in the situation.

PP here. I'm not victim blaming at all. Mr. Anwar and his family have my full sympathy. I only wrote the last reply because what else can one realistically do if in an area like DC or Atlanta where carjackings are exploding on number and consequences are minimal for teens who commit crimes?

Rich and privileged people: “ just let the thieves take your car/phone/wallet/money, etc. Your safety is all that matters...”

Other people, especially someone who’s driving for Uber eats as an income: “I can’t let these kids take my car, I will never get it back. My insurance won’t cover this. There goes my job, there goes my income, what will I do? I can’t replace this. I can’t get another job, especially without the car. I can’t afford this. I can’t let this happen. My family is depending on me.”

Think outside your bubble. Sure, NBD for rich people to just “hand it over”. SMH.

With all the support and lower admissions for black there is no excuse for this behavior, they need to be severely punished and be made as an example to put fear in the criminal youth running rampant in dc

PP here. We don't know if either/both are hate crimes or nor, but I'll agree that both situations require significant consequences. Personally, I think it's possible that neither situation is a "hate crime."
