I have LOVED that during Covid swim teams have suddenly discovered they do not REALLY need a small army of volunteers and can make do with far fewer people. Can’t we keep this great shift?
Speaking as someone that does automation for MCSL, this change will double the workload for the computer operators, as both times will be entered and the software will average them. Not a big deal at an A meet but will be a huge pain at B meets. Just something to consider. Personally I like the 3 timer setup with the middle time being used.
Question for the automation volunteer: will pools honor records broken this summer or will they be considered suspect with an averaged time?
I suspect that would depend on the pool. It wouldn’t count for MCSL records, which I think requires 4 timers? Could be wrong on that.
