He's 68. How meaningful is a lifetime appointment at that point?

He's 68, AG might be his last hurrah. He handled the McVeigh case, plus other domestic terrorism cases, so perhaps good to have someone like that in place when the inevitable domestic terrorism cases rise in the coming years.

Yes, I think it will be Bloom Raskin as well.
CNN says he's close to SecDef pick as well, and could be Duckworth. Although everyone thought Flournoy, and it could still be she, progressives are very unhappy with her ties to defense contractors and that could derail her. Although Duckworth wouldn't be a conventional pick, I think she'd do well with the right team. And it would position her well for the future.

I’m not in love with Pete, he is very articulate but pretty unimpressive at his actual job of governing a pretty small city,
I agree. What has he actually accomplished? I respect his service as a veteran. As a gay man, I also admire him being open about his sexuality. But he ran state-wide and lost, ran for DNC chair and lost, ran for president in lost, and of mayor of a small city, left the marginalized communities out to dry while focusing entirely on bringing white collar jobs to the city.
What did he actually do to deserve to be president? He is smart and a great speaker, I'll give him that. But beyond that, there isn't much there.

Haha, you seemed to have hurt the feelings of the Pete supporter. I will give him this, he has a very loyal fan base. They refuse to accept that others don’t see him the same way.
There are the same people who thought he'd be great as VP. I personally think Pete is an awesome person but he wasn't and still isn't ready for an administration position.
Agree, I don’t dislike Pete but as mayor, he was only so so. He needs to kick ass at his next position and then he may be a legitimate contender. Although cabinet position is not usually the route to president or Vice President, he probably should be running for Congress, or statewide, but that is probably a harder road.

Rep. Cedric Richmond is taking an "advisory role". with lots of "public engagement". This could be stretch, but is he going to be UN Ambassador or USTR?
Never-mind, reporting says a position similar to that of Valerie Jarrett.
It is a good opportunity for Rep. Richmond but I am not sure about the comparison to Jarrett. She had a broad portfolio and large staff due to her prior relationship to the Obamas. Her exact titles did not really matter. Still, it is an office in the West Wing for the congressman.
