Trounced? What game were you watching?

Looooooosers.

We were also playing handicapped without the best player too (Megan Rapinoe). To win without that - yes, trounced.

best player???? maybe with purple hair

this is a team. From Naehr to Dunn to Ertz to Lavalle and Ohara and Heath and Morgan this was a great team effort.
Rapinoe is a part of that team. Not the best part in any way.

You must admit, that gesture was extremely offensive and deserved a red-card.

It was a lame gesture. Rapinoe and her make me cringe. What is worse is that was likely not spontaneous - she had to have thought out that little celebration in advance. Just play the game and celebrate with your teammates.

No one would have criticized a male soccer player if they had done the exact same thing.

Really? Because I thought the NFL just lifted the rule against premeditated celebrations as unsportsmanlike just two years ago.

The criticism of the celebration is that it is a taunt and it was meant as a taunt.

Yes, and Morgan's reply today was that the vast majority of the celebrations in the men's game are much worse, and no one makes a big deal about it. Which is 100% true.

When you play on the big stage everything is under scrutiny. She could be under scrutiny for not having scored since the Thailand game or even worse the team could be considered irrelevant enough to not be bothered to scrutinize at all.

Being at the top doesn’t mean all praise.

Turns out this whole thing has been a misunderstanding.

She was actually paying homage to GoT actress Sophie Turner’s Instagram feed, as anyone can plainly see.

I don’t really have a problem with the celebration. It is somewhat of a taunt but whatever. My problem is their reaction to essentially being on the front page now. Welcome to modern sports journalism where criticism are levied regardless of how big or small the issue is. There just isn’t a story in “you’re amazing”.

Aaron Rodgers is one of the greatest quarterbacks of this generation and he got disemboweled in a scathing article this spring.

When World Cup is Over they can all go back to their 3rd page coverage of NWSL. In the meantime enjoy the success and accept the attention that will be fleeting soon enough. Be happy that you’re only real image problem right now is a goal celebration and not a getting kicked out of Epcot for being drunk and disorderly.

People are making it a big deal because most of the people watching the women’s World Cup do not watch sports. The only soccer they have seen is when their little kid plays in rec or travel. Of course they will get upset. I really wish you people would stop with all this feminisms bullsh@t. Men do it and get criticized. If it was like Rapinoe’s celebration (8th or 9th goal in a blowout) the other teams makes sure that player pays a prices on the field.

Then why the hell were you watching the game then? Just turn off the TV and go play with yourself instead.

Such delicate snowflakes. Even Piers Morgan admitted he was being a drama queen, which is saying something.

But Ellen White’s trademark goggles (Tall Man from Pan’s Labyrinth?) celebration isn’t premeditated? She scored a game winning goal in a World Cup semifinal, she can do whatever she wants. You’re lame for being so bent out of shape about it.

bwahahaha...offensive you got to be kidding...England supporters are upset they got beat plain and simple..had she done this and USA lost this wouldn't even be an issue. Its a goal celebration and nothing less. Perhaps a DX Suck It would have been more appropriate.
