Mostly because you can't unsee/unknow certain things that come along with WC existence. And saying I am WC is generous- I grew up poor. That's a perspective that can't be shaken off with education and wealth. And truly, I don't want to. Part of my charm is that I am true to myself, and I offer a perspective that my social circle would not otherwise have.

Look, that poster writes well and has some insight, but she’s off-base on some stuff. This is so funny. The bolded part describes my upbringing and we were pretty much upper middle class -- doctor father, teacher mother, kids went to private school on scholarship and then to Ivies and now work in professional fields.
Probably some of this is regional too. I grew up in a rural area with professional MC parents, but a lot of the families in my area would be classified as WC (a term no one ever used - everyone was MC unless you were actually poor). Nobody said "we're too fancy for your potluck or bowling," you do what your neighbors do socially, it just makes sense. And we camped because we didn't have money for hotels - but unlike our friends who went to Disney, it was because they were saving like crazy for retirement and college.

Not true about cruises. Cunard, silversea, and american river cruises are all securely upper class.
