Coached my DD this year, an amazing coach that finds a way to connect with his players, the girls are very upset he is no longer with BRYC.
There are a few girls who are planning to try and follow him. And there are some who are happy he is gone.
Not on Mikeys teams, his teams were all visibly upset when they were told at training, almost all in tears. I drove carpool that night and it was not fun
Maybe a few parents are happy he is gone? He is polarizing
Not me, now I have to drive to Woodbridge.
Oh, snap! One VDA starter to the bench already!
Hate to stir the pot more, but BRYC parents have been meeting with Matt Lacey and Mikey. It has been told that they are going to make 2 VDA teams. New ECNL rule. ECNL 1 and ECNL 2. Helps the recruiting process. No player left behind.
LOL if you think that ECNL 2 team is going to be coached the same way the ECNL 1 team is.
Go back and BRYC Blue team parents how that worked out for them and their kids...
There is no ECNL 2 league for Virginia teams. Only MD teams have ECNL 2
Phew and thank goodness. Keep that ecnl2 whatevah up north.
VDA's feeder clubs (PWSI and VSA) top teams play in ECNL Regional league already
Good, so those VDA kids who were replaced by incoming BRYC kids will still have a team to play on.
That’s the plan.
The plan is to cut the existing vda players?
You may want to research your new staff and how they treated existing players last tryouts, before throwing a welcoming party.
Oh please, Mikey coached my Kid for years and we never saw any problems with how tryouts were conducted.
i agree --- Mikey is very clear that he wants the best players, the players who can help the teams he coaches win.
That's what he's interested in, and he makes no bones or no apologies for it.
Do you have any idea how a national championship would help his career?
Then why did he leave? Also if ECNL players can’t leave a club to go to another ECNL club,in middle of the year, why is it ok for coaches? VDA should be fined for recruiting a coach.
+1 why is it ok for clubs to poach coaches? VDA should be fined.
Isn’t MC the president of US Club soccer which is the parent of ECNL? Maybe you should call the Presi nt of US club soccer and demand that he fine himself for poaching a coach....

Fined for competing? Do you want to prevent people from being able to switch jobs? Not sure I would like to be stuck with my employer forever because others could be fined for hiring me.

Current ECNL players cannot attend other ECNL tryouts until May 1st:
"ECNL Member Clubs may not train, invite a player to train, invite a player to tryout or try out a player from an ECNL Team of another ECNL Member Club prior to May 1 of the ECNL Season, unless the player has been released by their current ECNL Member Club"

I think I speak for most VDA parents when I say we want to have the best club possible, if there is an infusion of talent at the older age groups it may help those players get recruited?

Also we did not have many players at all tryout for my DD’s team and I know the 2004 team was light on players... I don’t know if this was meant to be a dig at Mikey but It really is not true

Just wait, they'll be coming.
Are players allowed to ask the club if they can come? It looks like the club isn't allowed to do the asking but players can?

Coached my DD this year, an amazing coach that finds a way to connect with his players, the girls are very upset he is no longer with BRYC.
