Subject: Feedback on VLC Club Lacrosse?
Just a guess - could be a bit of both. Although there are exceptions, you can't really do much w/ kids until they can catch and throw (as well as focus) and oftentimes this doesn't happen til 4th and 5th grades. Hopefully they decided that 3rd and 4th grade is too young for higher level club lacrosse. I would never want my son to play for one club from 3rd grade through HS. These kids are better off, playing other sports and NVYLL in the spring.

Hopefully they decided that 3rd and 4th grade is too young for higher level club lacrosse. I would never want my son to play for one club from 3rd grade through HS. These kids are better off, playing other sports and NVYLL in the spring.

It looks like they cancelled 2028 and 2029 tryouts. Was it lack of interest or did the coaching fall through?

I do not work for VLC in any way. I do have a kid who plays VLC and despite up and down performance at some tournaments, I feel like he is getting quality coaching and a staff that will get him where he wants to go with lacrosse.
The only way to truly find out about these clubs and if they feel like a fit is take your son to tryouts. It's a small fee to tryout and it should give you a great sense of the coaching style, the parents, and the kids.

Unless you want to play tennis at Georgetown or crew at UCLA a "college coordinator" can be paid 10K or 100K it will still not get a kids recruited. Only his play and grades will. All the top clubs provide exposure and access to top events. Kids can email coaches and they will look at them. FYI: VLC social media guy must be on vacation as a few more 2020's have committed beyond what is listed on the team page.

Was the college coordinator also in charge of calling UVA and telling them not to recruit Ungrateful Quitter? If so, how much pull can this college coordinator really have? I'm not sure I'd want someone with zero pull advocating for my son.

When all is said and done, a typical parent has spent north of 50k on lacrosse club fees, camps, tourneys, travel expenses, etc. what’s an extra 1k if it gets my kid over the recruitment line?
If you you son plays VLC he will be in this mid 30’s before you spend 50k on lacrosse.

Because it's an unnecessary expense. It's a gimmick. Donate it to help kids from disadvantaged backgrounds learn the sport; you can still brag about that and get the status bump you're looking for.

Poaching is such a loaded, dirty word in this context. I call it good business if a coach from NL is reaching out to a talented player and/or his parents wondering whether the player would be interested in leaving his current club to join Next Level. As a NL parent who has seen for myself a heretofore crappy team become one that wins and gets the attention of the college coaches with the addition of a few impact players joining from other clubs, I’m all for it.
