(OP) DD paid a visit to Wooster this past summer. She came away with a positive opinion of the school and is considering applying. She described the campus as small, pretty and friendly.

NP here but my DH went there and has nothing but wonderful things to say about it.

Hey, NP here but my DH went there too and LOVED it. He is also very successful career-wise now too so that reflects well on the school I think!

Anonymous wrote:Wooster and Oberlin, both in Ohio. Ohio has a surprising number of great little liberal arts colleges.

Yes. Oberlin is well-known but Wooster is a gem. Wonderful school.

Catholic University of America. Doesn't have the name brand value of GW or Georgetown, but has nationally ranked engineering, nursing, drama and music programs, solid liberal arts, well-regarded social work. Metro stop right on campus (unlike most other DC schools) and well-run employment/internship office. Now that Brookland has been hipsterized, the whole area is a plus. No need to be religious or even Catholic.

Anonymous wrote:The daughter of a good friend of mine from the Boston area is now at Vanderbilt and loves it. She's also liberal, a little crunchy, went to a good prep school but didn't have the grades for a top tier school. She loves literature and writing and was opposed to a school that was "too southern" or too Greek. Vanderbilt has been a great fit. She's a sophomore now.

Vanderbilt is very difficult to get into, a hot school right now as is Wake Forest,
