FCC might be eliminated.
I thought FCC Chairman was just selected? Ajit Pai.
So?

I'm one of those sad sacks who accepted a tentative offer and was just waiting one more day for my BI to go through before getting a FO and EOD date. Those things would have happened Tuesday, the freeze was enacted Monday.
I've emailed my (hopefully) future boss, and left two voice mail messages for my HR contact. I haven't heard anything. It's a huge agency, which was one that was making concerted efforts to hire lots of people before inauguration, so I know they're swamped, but I'm dying to know my fate.
Questions:
1) Anyone else with a TO going into the freeze who heard good news?
2) Anyone with any ideas whether the TO will be honored after the freeze is lifted?

If he really want to make government more productive and efficient, he should change the rules to make it easier for federal government to fire these people who have bad performance. But still hire capable hardworking people
Stupid trump! Everyday is full of surprise!

Because the executive order is for 90 days for OPM and OMB to create and implement a plan to decrease the federal workforce through attrition. This is similar to the XO given by other incoming POTUSes. The goal is for a new administration to make an effort to research and clean up waste and unnecessary costs leftover from prior administrations. It is usually a good excuse to try and encourage some feds who are eligible to retire to do so. This is why it is a plan to reduce the workforce through attrition and not through RIFs. After they put out the plan, which is usually some form of one time incentives to retire for some portion of the older workforce, then the hiring freeze is likely to be selectively lifted for various agencies and/or positions.
