Things that are illegal:

Would you want your son to be in the position of having to tell the police, his lawyer (that you're paying for), and the judge that he thought she was of age because she showed him her fake ID? Therefore, it is prudent for a college student at a college party to be prepared for the possibility that a party-goer is a high school student.

This is an entirely separate issue from a fake ID -- and by the way, I think that society generally agrees that people shouldn't have fake IDs. There aren't a lot of arguments about how the line between fake ID and real ID is so gray and nebulous and people can't possibly be expected to have to figure it out.

If you are an above-age teenage boy, and you're going to have sex with another teenager, you may need to be taught that it's a good idea to get solid information how old the teenager you're going to "bang" is. There are multiple ways of doing this.
