Hon, that's any parent who takes the bus, not just a single mom.

And the difference, of course (since you're an idiot and seem to need it to be pointed out) is that in your scenario, the child is supervised at all times by the parent and can have immediate help if need be, which of course these kids (abandoned in their car) could not.



And those kids did not have hats or socks or shoes on!

He's 9, not 2.
He was outside your house, not strapped into a parked car out of your site.
He was not strapped to anything: he had hTe ability, and the common sense , to move if danger came.

It was @ 10 minutes. He as wearing a sweat shirt and jeans, it was @ 30F. But I wonder if someone passing by our house that night had seen him out there crying and called the police, I'm not sure they would seen this as reasonable punishment.


So this was your version of a time out for a 9 yr old?!? Lame.

The 3 and 1 yr old in this case haven't done anything to deserve being left in a cold car for at least an hour and the parents left them there to attend a wine tasting.


Why is my time out lame? They say you should do around 1 minute per year of life. What should I have done when he was threatening everyone in the house verbally and refusing to listen to reason?


Sent him to his room, taken screens away for x period of time

It says that the kids were found around 4:30, so that means that the wine tasting started around 3:30.

Whether or not the kids were sleeping, it's still cruel and neglectful and frankly unfathomable. Any parent who could do this is inhumane and doesn't really deserve to be a parent. This is akin to the parents who nailed their children into their filthy bedroom because the parents wanted to party it up without the kids.

Maybe they had been out and on their way home decided to stop by. Put the kids' coats on and said, "Oh, we'll pop in, say hi and be out in ten minutes." Then they saw a bunch of people they hadn't seen in a long time and lost tract of time. ???? Not believing that one either, huh?

What a pair of idiots. This was clearly a thought out plan, as in they actually put in some level of thought to determine the safest way to leave their kids unattended in the car. I bet they were proud of their great plan.

This was not a momentary lapse of judgement. This couple really thought there was nothing wrong with what they did and for the father to try and lie about going into the restaurant for a bit is just the icing on the cake.

I hate to say this but I agree these kids need to live with someone who exhibits better judgement. I wonder foolish things they have done with these poor kids where they didn't get caught.

OMG. This tidbit about the iPhone led me to this article which makes it even more horrific. The father knowingly did this and the mother ignored her screaming child (she had an iPhone connection to the car and the girl had been screaming for some time before the police found the kids. While they were wearing coats, neither child had on a hat or gloves and the boy had no shoes or socks.

Remember in Cleveland Park when they were busting windows of parked cars to steal things.

I can't believe you care that little about your kids to leave on without shoes and socks and no heat on a 28-30 degree day. The youngest was almost 2 and the older one over 3. My 3-year old could open the car door--unlock it manually.

Christ- I used to shower when they were in cribs/nap time at 22 months. These freaks leave them alone for over an hour on a city street.
