Yes, optimistic that it can easily, EASILY, be avoided. And optimistic that it is not eternal. In my belief system, Jesus prays to God and pleads for their forgiveness. God will one day forgive them.

I'm not understanding your question or your point. The neighbor who tortures cats would go to hell same as the pedophile down the road. What made you think these people would be spared?

Prove that hell is eternal punishment in flames. And while you are attempting to do so, hopefully you will dig for the full meaning, take a gander at Rev 20:

The Judgment of the Dead
11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. Guess death doesn't mean what it means in so many other instances in this case, just like literal fire being used to obliterate in other areas of the Bible no longer means that. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah?

If you really look at the Bible it shows that while God will render his judgement he will NOT be the 'hey it's okay, do whatever you want while ignoring my word and you'll still go to heaven' NOR will he be...it doesn't matter that you never had an opportunity to know who Christ was...and many more examples...you will suffer FOREVER in a state of burning without relief.

See how many verses you can come up with that says things like...the wages of sin is death...or as Jesus said..."Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell." Now Christ himself said the soul is not immortal.

I am a Christian. Yes I believe in hell. It terrifies me, I worry about it all the time. Probably the biggest reason I won't have kids. The thought of my own child burning in hell and being on fire forever is too much for me.

What a beautiful way to support what many of us have been saying on these threads - that religion is meant to control the masses through fear!

Are you worried that you will go to hell?

Yes, I worry about it a lot. My rational mind feels like God wouldn't do that to us meaning how could he actually make us be on fire forever. That would be worse then what any human has done here on earth if you actually think about it. I know he is a loving God. But I still have an irrational fear of going to hell. It's something I need to get past if I ever want to go to heaven. I need to trust that God wouldn't hurt us like that.

There are so many references to eternal life and also to death as the alternative...so if hell is a place of death how can it be eternal burning punishment?

I mentioned voluminous Scripture because Christians were referred to as having a "bs theory" and was earlier than that that we can take one piece of the Bible and make it say whatever we want. But what I am presenting is the consistent clear message of Scripture. And the only reason I write these posts is so that perhaps someone will read them and understand that God is a forgiving, loving God that doesn't care what you've done if you'll only repent. I don't want anyone to go to Hell. More than that, I want everyone to go to Heaven. But I am perplexed by the dichotomy of these views denying Christian teaching: On one hand, it's said God is too good to send people to Hell, and on the other hand, some people (like child rapists) really deserve it and how dare I suggest they can find redemption. Which is it?

And the main reason I respond to these posts is so people reading here will see how weak fundamentalist arguments are and how desperate and rigid and brainwashed they sound.

Jesus Christ offers forgiveness and eternal life. What is it you have to offer?
