At least it has one predominant architectural theme. Completely out of whack for a neighborhood of mid-century ramblers (or, for Virginia, for that matter), but whatevs….

Ha ha jinx. -PP right behind you.

I drove by it every day during construction: wait, they're not…..what the…..oh god, they are really doing it…..

This is prime example of the new build ones, not how close the neighboring houses are. Huge houses built right on top of each other.

And those other two houses currently in build stage that have 395 as their front yard. It's not like that neighborhood is full of modest houses, but wow.

If some of these owners get a less that warm reception in their new neighborhoods consider that their investment has probably really impacted current resident's property taxes. I know of some in close in neighborhoods who have seen their taxes double in the last few years due to the addition of outsized houses.

I can't figure out how to post the picture. I think this is the mother of all McMansions. Its on a tiny lot right on a major intersection."

More money than taste. A variation of we don't know what we are doing so we will add one or more elements from various styles that span centuries and/or the globe.

Note: Monticello, Versailles and the Taj all have large lots. Not so for McMansions.

7122 Arrowood Rd, BETHESDA -- MRIS #MC8312266

This is a home for sale on the same block as the mega huge mansion that makes all the classic and McMansions on the block look like shacks. Click on birdseye veiw and see if you can find it-hint-it is a new build so landscaping not quite finished (though it is now). 16 million dollar home with over 20,000 sq feet. Jaw dropping, really!

I doubt that's a McMansion meaning preset plans built over and over again.
