yes. look at the dean J blog from yesterday: they accepted 260 total from the arts and sci plus engineering. it's the largest pull off the WL UVA has done in years. There are usually more in 2-3 weeks in years where it is this large, but it will be small.
Thank you so much. Did not know these updates were happening. Looks like no go for DD. Was hoping they hadn’t touched engineering yet. Oh well. Virginia Tech it is!
My high stats kid got into four top 15 ranked Engineering programs and didn't get off the UVA Engineering W/L yet...frustrated NoVa taxpayer...
But honestly, congrats on Virginia Tech--stronger engineering program anyway.

I was recently looking at college acceptance posts on instagram and there are quite a few URM who are turning down an Ivy or other Top20 for HBCUs.
Not everyone is the DCUM prestige chasing, Ivy obsessed. People make all sorts of decisions for all sorts of reasons. Isn't it good that the entire world isn't made of the same person?
Families look at affordability. With some universities at over $100k a year (USC), $42k for in-state UVA arts & Sciences looks very attractive. That’s what our DC thought and picked UVA. We banked the difference so now can pay for Harvard Law which is a whopping $126k a year for a Supermax cell of a room designed by Gropius. An apartment in Cambridge will bring the actual cost up to $246k a year. No, Harvard doesn’t offer merit because it doesn’t need to.

UChicago definitely better. NU only better for journalism and football.
