You mean thank your mcps for wasting your money, just like how they wasted more than 6+ million on the Supreme Court case.
Here we go with the irrelevant Supreme Court case again. Not precedent by a mile.
Can you read? Where in the comment did anyone say the SCOTUS case was precedent? Are you ok?
Someone said this will waste taxpayer money.
Someone else responded saying that’s a weird response considering Taylor wasted $6 million dollars to lose in Supreme Court.
Here we are with the "two wrongs make a right" argument again. It can be wrong for MCPS to take that case to the Supreme Court AND ALSO wrong for a small group of Wootton parents to waste taxpayer dollars on this lawsuit.
Wrong for MCPS to do all this in the most chaotic way so that they open themselves to lawsuit and thus waste taxpayers money
*FTFY
Wootton said their building was unsafe. MCPS responded by giving them a new building.
+1
I don’t get it. The building has mold, pipes bursting, no AC, no heat.
Brand spanking new school. What’s not to love? I don’t get it.
Why are the sueing? For what, so they can continue at the school that is a health hazard?
They'd rather send their kids to a school with mold than kids from Gaithersburg.
Kids from Gaithersburg have already been attending Wootton for decades.
No, kids from the north Potomac portion of Gaithersburg but not those “other” Gaithersburg. Not Montgomery village,
Their issue is with Fields Road.
“Washingtonian Woods how scawy!”
The apartments on Fields Road. And to a certain extent, the entire set of townhomes/condos off Muddy Branch.
Correct. However, the way Wootton people are speaking, it sounds as if they have no idea that Washingtonian Woods and other smaller neighborhoods like it make up a very substantial portion of who’s attending Fields Road.
Actually, you're right. I'm very familiar with the area, but I estimated the populations incorrectly. I thought the population east of Muddy Branch dwarfed the western side. It's much closer than I expected. The eastern side is about 6k. Washingtonian Woods is 2k, with another 2k in the townhomes behind and around the Giant on the north side of Great Seneca

Just ask Thomas Taylor - the Great Oz has an answer for everything.[/quote
I think they have said that it is easier to patch it up for it to be used for a few years than it is to to a more permanent fix
Thank you! That’s an actual answer.

You do realize you replace a school before it makes kids sick right?
Okay, snarky that wasn’t my question. My question is, if the building is bad, why is it okay for it be a holding school? Aren’t they then turning wootton into a holding school? Are there plans to fix it first?

Rio is in Gaithersburg.
No it isn't.
If you think it's in Brazil you don't belong on this forum.
While Rio itself is in Gburg, the homes between Rio and Crown along Fields are in Unincorporated MoCo.
Okay but the apartments zoned to Fallsmead in that area are all in Gaithersburg.
No. The appartments between Washingtonian Blvd and Fields Rd are NOT in Gaithersburg city.
Those apartments in Mohogany drive/circle and Marathon circle are indeed in Gaithersburg.
Not on the maps I've seen, unless that recently changed.
So you don't know or have never been to the area? They are in Gaithersburg.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:So what's the basis of the legal action? What did MCPS do that was illegal?
No legal action yet, just threatened legal action.
The Save Wootton people sent out a press release saying that they retained the law firm and are exploring their legal options with "claims arising from procedural deficiencies, inequitable impacts on students and families, and potential violations of State and Federal law."
Until they actually file the lawsuit, we won't know what they think the violations are.
It's also Spring Break, so the odds of anyone filing a lawsuit now are pretty low.
We should all touch grass, spend some time in the sun, and reconvene when they actually file the lawsuit.
They could but you think they would have filed long before or had the paperwork ready to go to file as soon as the decision was confirmed.
That’s literally not how any of this works.
Yes, it is. They could have retained an attorney who had the paperwork ready to go and file next day.
I don’t think they will ever raise enough money to go through with it. And a chik fil a fundraiser isn’t going to move the needle much either. It’s big $$$$$ needed.
