They had to pay their own way, and troops who don't meet Hegseth's aryan appearance requirements were excluded.
Were they forced to go or they paid their own way to go? Both?
It is a voluntary event and 1,200 tickets for Active Duty were provided for free.
So the prior poster provided incorrect information? Were they mistaken about the whites only rule as well?
The band and the jets -- their attendance is not voluntary. That's what was referred to before.
The military personnel attending to watch -- they were not included if they didn't meet some Hegseth imposed weight and other requirements. Google it. It was news.

Sure, but they're there for a purpose, and supporting a for-profit venture in a non-emergency situation is certainly not part of a defense--or war--mission.
It's like your boss coercing you to serve 'voluntarily' as his housekeeper.
Housecleaning does not seem to be an apt analogy for having a military band play music at the White House or having pilots fly planes.
Playing music at the White House for a government event makes sense.
Playing music at the White House for a commercial event that shouldn't be taken place at the White House, yet that is scarfing up tax payer dollars -- that's a different matter.
