There are less competitive teams and players at ASL vs AA because of the significantly greater number of players and teams competing at ASL. ASL seems to be less popular than AA among mid-Atlantic players and more popular up north. This doesn’t mean that AA is full of top players either.

Every club lacrosse tournament has teams of variable competitiveness. Even the best club teams have an assortment of players with variable abilities on their roster.

I question whether surrounding yourself with and playing against the best talent at showcases is as important as being seen by the coaches you are interested in. I think coaches recognize that there are external variables that can affect your play. There are other opportunities to make up for this like showing up at that school’s prospect camp.

5 UNC, 9 Notre Dane, 6 BC, 7 2025 U Penn commits played at that 2023 ASL event. It doesn’t seem like their presence at ASL that summer hurt recruiting their chances.

When it comes to deciding between AA and ASL, pick the event where the coaches who you want to see are more likely to see you. Otherwise, pick the event that you feel more comfortable with. I think you can be successful at either one.

On the 2029 MD red team (supposedly the best MD has to offer), there are girls from b teams like MDU west and several girls who got cut from nb aa tryouts. I don’t see any b team girls on the nb aa team for 2029 bmore.

Absolutely untrue. At AS, most of the teams of unbelievably awful. Yes, there are more teams than AA, but there are only few teams who actually matter. The two MD teams, the top PA team, the top two LI teams, the top MA team, the top CT team, the top NJ team, the top DC team, and the top Upstate and Downstate teams. The rest of the teams suck. Looking at those teams for any given year, the top PA girls chose AA, LI splits with YJ kids mostly going to AS and 91 and everyone else at AA, and the best MD kids mostly went to AA. You can say “iykyk” all you want, but you have zero clue.


I looked at the rosters last night for some regions in both tournaments, and there are a bunch of B girls on the “top” teams in AS. That doesn’t bode well for the iykyk lady’s argument….

Let the coaches coaching at the event pick the team by any manner they see fit. I think AA does that or at least at a better level than AS. Assigning a baby sitter to an “all star” team after it has been selected with guaranteed playing time is clearly a disaster for our region. Look at school girls and As for evidence. You hurt recruiting for the entire region by getting your ass kicked. The DMV should sue AS to remove the phrase DC-VA from the jersey. You have to pick the coach. Coach picks team. Coach awards playing time. Results follow. And for AA dont get too high on yourself. I have no weird attachment to a AS, the problem I have is you keep using the word elite until these girls are selected by top 10 schools or do something in college It’s a little early to call them elite. There are excellent girls on American select and All American I would dial back the elite when grouping all the girls at AA were elite.

Or maybe we could look at the other years, where every one of those girls got invites to BIC and/or UA150, play on elite teams, and receive elite rankings by companies like IL. Just because nobody knows who your kid is doesn’t mean that it’s the same for the girls at AA. Every college coach in the country knows who they are already, even at the 2029 level.

And I totally believe you that you have no kid at AS, makes perfect sense why you are trying so hard.

Bc I have been around women like you in the lacrosse world forever. Whether it was club, HS, recruiting, me coaching, or college ball, there is always someone like you who just argues to argue and it’s annoying.

First it was that UA dropped AA so it had to be worse-clearly not the case, multiple people on here pointed out that it’s a dumb argument. Then it was AS has all of the college coaches, but again, you were wrong. Then you had “facts,” but now it is just your opinion. AS is a wonderful event, I said it many pages ago; but AA has been the first choice for more elite players for a reason.
