So tomorrow the SHTF when people find their money is cut off. Also, we know they're firing 70% of OPM and 30% of the rest of the government.
Any court orders that are issued will be ignored - tomorrow I believe the judge is to rule on the TRO for the grant funding. I consider that the true "Constitutional crisis moment."
And who knows what ICE is planning.
Hence the barricades in front of the White House. They WANT people to protest so Trump can declare an emergency and put military on the streets.
Is Musk stopping payments? Or just tweeting about them?
If he is stopping authorized payments, then he cannot do that. No matter how not-DOGE they are.
Why can't he do that? Who will stop him?
Congress could. If they won't, the courts can and will. In this country, our court system is the most powerful of the 3 branches. Project 2025 talks about overturning Marbury v Madison - but that's just talk and they cannot do it without a lot of consent from everyone else. Which they won't get.
Other countries may be set up differently. But this is how we are set up and it has worked well for us. We will find out soon if it will continue working well. Fwiw, I think it will, DH thinks it won't.
The protections we've relied upon take time. Musk could funnel billions into his pocket for "efficiency" in minutes.
The Judiciary has no means of enforcement. And at least two members of SCOTUS have been bought.
I'm glad you have faith. I hope you're right.

Yes. If tomorrow is remotely as bad as it’s looking to be, it will need to be a Seoul moment.

I am alarmed, but those barricades have been there for months. They got erected in anticipation of Harris winning and another J6 riot. Then they kept them up for the inauguration. Now they are just....there. But they aren't new.

The Executive enforces the decisions of the Judiciary. What makes you think Trump is going to do that? That's why this is a crisis. There are no longer checks and balances.
