I just rewatched it. Really the best. Their send-up of a bar mitzvah where everyone sings about suffering was a thousand times better than this.

I think he's adorable.

I kind of agree his beard and neck area were patchy and bad. They were probably trying to age him a bit because Kristin Bell is definitely over 40 and without the beard he passes as much younger. He is so much better looking without a beard.

Look, I like Adam Brody and think he’s hot.
I also like Kristen Bell. I like all the actors in this show actually.
The dialogue is witty. I like the brother from veep too. Love me some Tovah feldshuh, esp when she played a similar character in Crazy Ex Girlfriend.

But there are so many problems with this show:

It is the worst of stereotypes of Jews and non Jews, especially for the women. The MIL shrew thing is the worst piece of misogyny, tale as old as time.

There is no way that Adam Brody, a hot reform Jew rabbi at almost 40, would not be married and have 5
kids already.

Kristen Bell, love her as I do, does not look under 40 in this. And there’s no way a rabbi would seriously consider a sex and relationship podcaster as his partner.

Even the stereotypes about the gay dad and K. bell’s mom were tired.

The design of everyone’s house is like stunning, modern furniture and there’s no way the rabbi in particular has that bedroom furniture.

The rabbi wouldn’t go around macking with k bell so publicly.

The Shiksas know literally nothing about Judaism? Not even that prosciutto is ham? Cmon man.

I *AM* Jewish, and that bat mitzvah dress was the ugliest one I've ever seen, and that's saying something. My parents were pretty conservative but even my bat mitzvah dress in 1991 was above the knee and cute. Any normal Jewish mother would have stood up for her daughter to her MIL to get the daughter a dress she feels confident in.

All the women were pretty awful stereotypes! (Except the teen girl who I liked.). But the male characters were pretty good (except her self-absorbed gay dad).
