It is not as competitive as RM but your kid will still mostly get a good education. But as Kennedy parent with a kid in the IB program, I will warn you that not all of the teachers are well-trained and experienced in the IB curriculum, your results may vary.
It's a good program. Our DC is graduating this year, learned a lot, and had good college acceptances.

RM is more competitive to get into, so they have more high flyers from around the county. But it's the same IB diploma when all is said and done.
But since MCPS schools offer courses based on "community pull," the individual courses (and level) within each IB program are determined by the perceived interest level from the IB student population. So a large proportion of high fliers results in HL courses being available where they might not be without that large proportion, even if there are a few individuals at a school in the latter situation who might want/might benefit from the HL course (or breadth of available courses).
