Anyone with any sense is starting to mask again right now, since the next wave has already started.
Really? You think masks most people wear prevent transmission of covid? Give me a break.
Lol yep how can an N95/KN95 possibly prevent transmission. I mean I wonder why ICU drs/nurses use them?![]()
Read more carefully - I wrote the masks most of you dip$hits wear which are surgical and usually hanging off your noses.

Nobody likes being sick, and wearing a mask running errands or going to an indoor crowded venue is an easy way to lower your chance of getting sick. If I didn’t have school aged kids that bring home a ton of germs anyway, I’d consider wearing a mask still when running errands especially in the flu season.

Agree. I'm back to masking at the office. My coworkers don't love it but I could care less, it's just work.
+1 in what way does it affect their work?

Yet, in the face of this, some people, including on this thread, are still wearing masks and insist it’s “not over”. Either it is over, or it’s not over and it wasn’t ever that severe, or it’s not over but masks don’t make a difference. All 3 of those can’t be false at the same time given how few people are masking and the low severity of the illness.
I may be wrong but the people I know IRL who mask religiously are more worried now about long term issues. Not judging whether they’re right or wrong but often people will reference that right after covid their otherwise healthy BIL who ran marathons had a cardiac event or got diabetes or whatever.
Seems like some people are concerned about the long game and they have that “luxury” - in the sense that they don’t have to worry about ruining a child’s senior year by insisting on masks or not allowing them to go to events or whatever bc they don’t have school age kids.
This is all correct.
No one is still suggesting events be canceled or everyone mask in schools. Relax. People who are still masking are simply trying to protect themselves or their family. It doesn’t require anything of you so you can stop being bitter about it.
I wouldn't say people are bitter. Puzzled, yes. Wearing masks is one of the most visible things to do that does send out strong signals, whether you like it or not, which is why people talk about it. I'm not the only person on here who's spent time in other cities or countries where there's virtually no masking left, yet all the reasons given on here in the DMV would also apply to these places, but somehow the population and culture think differently. Either the DMV has a higher level of anxiety, or more unhealthy people, or both!
I can tell from the reasons put forward for still masking that many maskers are suffering from a form of anxiety, whether they're on the spectrum or not. Protecting themselves and their families? That's anxiety. Of course, I never approach anyone in a mask or ask them why they're masking, but it doesn't prevent me from occasionally wondering....
