Speaking of which, I wish Jaime was in this show!

She may be trying to hedge her bets.
She knows that she and her children are in danger, just like Allicent knows the same about hers. The current King was elected, and he chose his heir, so there's really nothing to stop Rhaenyra from making a deal or naming a son by Daemon as HER heir.
All I know is all these people are gonna be trying to kill each other soon enough.

I started off really liking Alicent and now really really dislike her. Rhanerya's sons seem really kind, caring, and thoughtful. Alicent's sons seem psycho.

I feel like Alicent's switch to raging witch with a B happened really quickly and it's kind of jarring and makes her seem crazy. She obviously needed allies and seized on two weirdos - Cristin and that other weaselly guy. But the way those relationships developed is odd.

It wasn't clear to me if Daemon and Rhaeneyra were in on the "Laenor isn't actually dead but escaped to live his own life" twist.
Did Daemon kill that guard just as part of the plan to get the assassin/lover in the room with Laenor or was he helping secure a decoy body?
Did the assassin/lover go to Laenor, tell him the plan, and the two of them staged his death and escaped?
Rhaeneyra coldly killing (or thinking she did) her husband who just tried to recommit to being a good father make her a very different player than staging his death does.
This was my impression. I think Daemon and Rhaenyra were a part of the plot to fake the death. Daemon recruited Qarl and provided him with the decoy body.
This was also my impression. Why else have the dialog about how R&D thought L was a good man?
This, plus also the last scene between Rhaenyr and Leaner was so warm that for her to turn around and have him killed would really make her out to be a total villain. Like it is obvious in the scene that she has great affection for him, wishes that they could have made their marriage work better for both of them while also serving political needs, and wants him to be happy. And also in that scene he basically says he's willing to put aside what he actually wants and would make him happy in order to serve those political ends for her benefit and their kids. Having him killed after he offers to selflessly put her needs before his would be unbelievably cold hearted especially given how that episode unfolded.
PP here — Exactly. I will miss him. The actor is so attractive! The character however is frustrating — like even if you couldn’t really get it on in the bedroom, you could at least been around to defend the boys and put on a good show in public more often.
And could have gotten it on in the bedroom. Any trueborn child would have made this all much easier.
I took it as a fertility issue vice him not being able to perform with her. I felt it was implied in conversation by both of them that why had tried.
Yes in this most recent episode they discussed that they tried several times to no avail.
I took it as they tried but he couldn’t get excited enough to finish the deed. 🤷♀️ I just hope he comes back and swoops in on his dragon on some heroic attempt to save his family though sadly I think it really was the last we hear of him.
Ps Is it possible for a dragon rider to leave their dragon behind? Or does it find you?
