I won’t make any assumptions about their parenting but just always feel some sympathy when these stories break for the parents siblings and other close relatives of the shooter, what a horror it must also be to grapple with these events from that side of things.
The killer learned his hate from his parents, I have no doubt. Teens from compassionate, empathetic, loving homes, don’t slaughter people.

Always amazing how they manage this with a mass shooter armed to the teeth, but unarmed black men have them in constant fear of their lives 🙄
Time and time again America shows you who she really is, do not be amazed. Start believing her. A black man without weapons, Eric Garner, Mike Brown, is far far more deadly to cops armed to the nines, than a white man with semiautomatic guns that has shot multiple people. Institutional racism is alive and breeding.
Well, they did detain the DC snipers alive. The guy who drove his SUV through the crowd in WI and killed multiple people was brought in alive. Willie Godbolt shot and killed 8 people in Mississippi and was brought in alive. The Las Vegas shooter was not brought in alive. I never understood why people are fixated on whether a shooter is brought in alive or not. It's very hard to see a correlation with anything.

If the 2nd Amendment actually intended to protect private ownership of firearm (and that is debatable) we have proven we cannot handle it.
Ban them all.
Countries that have appropriate gun control do not have disproportionate crime. In fact in many it is the opposite.
Apples and oranges. Do you really think that if you impose some type of massive gun control that the United States is suddenly going to turn into Switzerland or Denmark or New Zealand? Those are wonderful places but they simply don't have to deal with the same underlying issues of criminal behavior that we do.

+1. If the parents owned the gun and didn’t keep it locked up they should go to jail, too.
Do you mean like how DC holds the parent responsible for violent crimes committed by their 18+ year-old sons?
I think everyone should be held accountable if they do NOT report a child or adult who made previous threats (schools, family, etc) AND has access to a gun.
Red flag laws.
That's not how red flag laws work.
IMHO, NY state police dropped the ball on his previous threats. They didn't red flag him in the system, likely because he was a minor when he made the threats.
If you threaten to shoot up your school at age 17, you shouldn't be able to get access to a gun only a year later. Their brains are too impulsive.
Apparently his parents gave him a bolt action rifle and a shotgun in 2020....when he was 16. WTF. Parents are clearly the ones encouraging his interest in guns. Wouldn't surprise me if dad had a small arsenal.

Yeah no. Wrong.
Fentanyl is gutting our country.
But rifles? You are more likely to get clubbed / beaten to death, then shot with a rifle - including every single type of “assault rifle” combined.
It’s exceedingly rare.
Um - notice how she specified: RIFLES???
And she’s right; what she claims is a fact about knives, clubs, etc: more Americans are murdered with knives and clubs than any type of rifle - including all types of “assault rifles.”
So we need to first ban clubs, right?

How many mass clubbings or sniper clubbings have there been?
Mass shootings are extremely rare. But you already knew that.
There have been 203 mass shootings in America in 2022, as of Sunday May 15. You call that rare?!
Uh huh. You re-defined “mass” as three (3) people, in order to skew the statistics.
Just like Bill Clinton was so desperate to claim “children hurt by guns!” he redefined “child” to include 19 year-olds.
Would you call most 19 year-olds a mere “child?”
Real mass shootings are very rare.
