All the MLS academies are in the same category with your chances of making it. Low percentage
Numbers don't lie
If your kid is really at a high level, you would know the answer is Europe

🤣 You can't. There is no real team. Welcome to DCU.
There's a team but not a real team?
You haven't been following. Too much to explain again. Go through the thread to the part about how DCU decided to drop the U14s the year and have a makeshift "team" playing random games.
Oh, they have a U14's Future Roster players program
Not sure that qualifies as makeshift and random
considering that most academies have an actual team that trains together all the time, and they had a team at that age group last year, I think "makeshift and random" is fair for what it is now.
The meanings of makeshift and random is subject to interpretation apparently
If the current U14's have a roster, structure and schedule, that by nature makes it neither random nor makeshift
Frequency of training and games isn't a qualifier
Oh? Do they have those things?
DCU doesn't have a u14 team this year. FULL STOP. However you want to dress that fact up or play it down...be my guest. But that fact doesn't change. Anyone saying otherwise is lying. All of the kids playing with DCU at the u14 age group are basically guest players for DCU while still rostered and playing full minutes at their normal pay to play club.
DCU has a U14 Future Roster team
They have a set roster list with selected game-day rosters
They have a dedicated coach
They train weekly
They have already played multiple games
All factual statements
Future Roster, what a joke. Can't fully commit to our kids, why do we send them there.
We who?
Also, if you have goals and ambitions for your kid to take the best path to the highest levels of soccer, which club is a better option in the DMV than the Professional Academy of DCU?
Arlington, Achilles and Bethesda each have at least one technical coach on staff that I trust more than the DCU coaches I have had exposure to. That is not a blanket statement the clubs are better. I follow the model that up to U15, technical development and ball mastery are the most important facets of the game you can focus on. I have not been impressed by visiting DCU coaches my son has trained with regarding this aspect of development but I also have not had exposure to the whole coaching staff. I just remain open to the best options for my son.
For example, I only hear a few coaches discussing the foot you are receiving on and mastering your first and second touch into space to create a new 2v1 situation on the field. IMHO, this is coaching that should exist at these younger levels versus mastering a 3-5-2, 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 and learning tactical elements to win. Naturally, people are going to argue me down on this but the same people think D1 is elite in the US and I humbly don't because I am training my son to complete globally.
Arlington, Alexandria and Bethesda have those coaches with the level of detail to master the basics. SYC "may" but their historic record of player production and focus on winning does not even attract me to look in their direction so I may be blind to what they are doing. Alexandria and VDA may as well but they are too far for me to entertain. If DCUA has those coaches, I just have not experienced them yet.
It's okay to send your kid to DCUA because it is your best option. It's not okay to label any anti-DCUA commentary as rejects simply because we don't trust it is the best option available for our kids. Do your research and make the best decision for you. What I have found is that most parents and coaches are not skilled in this level of technical development. Even coaches and parents that are former "D1" don't truly understand the game beyond our American "hustle hard" mentality.
No need for anyone to read this Opinion piece
There are No Clubs in the DMV that is a better pathway to the highest levels of soccer than the DC United Academy
Citing one or two outliers from Achilles or SYC doesn't change that fact
Anyone telling you different is ignorant or a liar working an angle and agenda
I think he/she put that in bold.
You mentioning SYC is the opposite of what they wrote. Reading is fundamental.
Sounds like the DCUA PR department is back in the fold. That was a pretty measured response and yours is like the orange man ranting![]()

🤣🤣🤣 I could say the same about my 6 year olds elementary school team. Like a PP said, there is no u14 team at DCU. Any other statement to the contrary is just putting lipstick on a pig
In other words, you're saying the statements made above are all true and factual
So you can only counter with cynicism
Yes the statements you say are all true. So what?? It doesn't change the fact that there is no MLS Next team competing in MLS next at u14 for DCU. You just can't get around that fact...and that fact means DCU is a less comprehensive program than most of the programs in the MLS. Which in turn confirms the obvious...DCU is an inferior academy in the MLS.
New York Pizza is inferior to Chicago pizza
North Carolina barbecue is inferior to Texas barbecue
Rock & Roll is inferior to Country music
See how easy it is to just say your opinion
Isn't your kid at a top European academy? Why are you so overly obsessed with DC?
Or is it that you're obsessed with DC kids because you so badly wish your kid was as good as them?
Like I said before, my kids are grown. So no, I dont really care about what you're saying. What I do care about is not letting DCU feed parents a lie about the quality of their program.and/what it can do for them.
The difference is that the majority held option in the nation, is that DCU is inferior. You won't find any credible person telling you otherwise.

Isn't your kid at a top European academy? Why are you so overly obsessed with DC?
Or is it that you're obsessed with DC kids because you so badly wish your kid was as good as them?
