In a safe. I’ve just always felt better with some cash around. We use cash for most stuff, so it’s easier to just keep some here.
Are you older or an immigrant? My elderly dad carries wads of bills around and pays for everything in cash. I rarely keep more than $50 or $100 in my wallet unless I’m traveling.
I’m 49. Again, I just like having access to cash. Need something done around the house? Pay them cash. See a good deal on something? I can show up with cash, etc.

I am not so sure the police/FBI can track them. Brian wasn't named as a suspect until after Gabby's body was found. And as much as I believe they helped him flee, there's actually no evidence of that and they sure as heck aren't talking. The police/FBI need a warrant to look at your bank accounts.
What makes you think they didn’t get a warrant?

Yeah, there was nothing humble about that.
It’s not a brag at all, people asked how they’d get cash out, well some people (especially business owners) tend to keep cash around.

So what? Brazil and brazillians deal with much worse crimes daily. Plus, he would be really well there, especially if he decided to go to someplace other than Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo.
I would guess if he’s not in Mexico, he could get to El Salvador or Columbia relatively inexpensively.

Easy. They can say it’s related to the camper purchase or home improvements.
Pretty easy to disapprove. The FBI isn’t just going to say, “that’s cool, we don’t need receipts for your renovated kitchen that you did since your delinquent son arrived home without his fiancé.”
