The part about club play could be a rhetorical question. I have gotten to know a few Albans lacrosse families over the years. Emphasis on a few, as very few boys at the high school level play club. I always crack up inside when I hear Albans dads (and moms, yes those generally loony Albans lax moms) prattle on about the Albans lax program needing more commitment from the school, new coaching, improved facilities, recruiting, blah, blah, blah. In other words explaining the weak program by pointing the finger outward, when the best explanation comes from within. In the 6 years I've been immersed in iac lacrosse, each year there are maybe, maybe 2-3 varsity players who also play club. Jeez, apart from the Maroons, every other IAC team has a starting lineup that plays club year round and a bench full of elite club players too. Until the Albans players themselves go full in, which involves year round club play, there is no way the program, in our hotbed area, in what is probably the most competitive conference in the country, will they be anything more than average.
