I saw St Albans play 3 times last year. I do like their offense, and I'm told none of their impact players was a senior last year. Shifty, fast, strong shooters, and creative unselfish feeders. lots of weapons. I also think the FOGO when on, can compete with any other in the area. I know there is at least one big pole we know from the club circuit who did not graduate, but talented as he is, he can't shoulder the defense by himself. That goalie last year was the real deal. I think the new goalie may develop into a real deal Prospect, but he's at least a season away from being able to deflect more than he lets in in thae IAC. Sorry, Bulldogs. But it's going to be a tough season for y'all.

I think that's a fair assessment. The departed goalie was really a superstar and I think will probably do quite well at the NCAA level. STA just doesn't have the depth of Landon, Prep, Bullis for sure, and maybe also SSSAS, and can't/won't "bring in Canadians" like somebody mentioned Episcopal did. It's a great school, and an excellent option for somebody who wants early playing time/exposure, but they just don't recruit/award aid in the same way as some of the other league schools so it will be hard for them to really compete at the top level. I've heard lacrosse players considering 9th grade admissions say things like "well I just don't want to have to work that hard" so I think their reputation as the most academically rigorous of the IAC schools can be a burden in the lax recruiting game. (And I'm not knocking the other IAC schools -- it's a strong academic conference -- I just think most people would agree STA is probably the most academic within the conference.)

In the IAC, talking about teams like Landon and Prep, there are some fantastic freshmen players who don't make varsity, let alone start on varsity. It's the weaker teams like EHS or STA where a good freshman might actually get a fair amount of playing time. Club lax is still the best measure of sorting out the next generation of studs.

Trippi and Buller were more versatile. Epstein is an elite scorer, but I would take either of the other two because they can do more things.

This is exactly why it’s impossible to talk about lacrosse anymore. In the day and age of Ty Xander’s lacrosse individual rankings, parents can’t appreciate team lacrosse anymore.

The best middie doesn’t have assists, the best pole carries too long, the best attack is selfish, the best goalie can’t clear. These are kids, their game isn’t all of that (yet), it will be. I don’t care who your kid is, they aren’t that great and with out their teammates they are never going to be that great.

Can we talk about teams? Who puts it all together? Who gets the most out of all of their talent?

Is this just impossible for you people to acknowledge talented kids and teams? No one is “much” better than anyone else that warrents you calling them out. I’d actually call you a VLC homer for that statement that frankly splits hairs. They are all talented kids.

How did STA fall so far down? All boys school, in house feeder program, wealthy families who can afford the sport, and strong history. What happened?

I don't see anyone going undefeated in league play this year.
