BRYC was in the bottom bracket of 9v9 (8 of 8) and VYS was in the bottom bracket of 11v11 (3 of 3). Not saying you can’t make a team out of that but a little misleading. This 2012 union team is going to struggle next year. The timing of the upheaval hurt with any new players and SYC was going to make up most of the team. Maybe they’ll get better with time.
Totally disagree on the last point. The 2012 McLean team was in the 2nd bracket and won 2/3 games, lost only to the winner who by all accounts was misbracketed, and they 2012s held their own. Take top 6 from that team, top 6 from Vienna (which performed well but had their second day cancelled), then the top 3-4 or so left from BRYC (because some of their tops have already gone elsewhere), then fill in with some outsiders, that’s a strong team. Even has SYC stayed, it wouldn’t have thrown off the numbers - maybe you take top 4-5 SYC instead of top 3-4 BRYC, shave 1 off the others, and still, there you are. It’s not that difficult to see why this works to make the teams more competitive, it just means more girls who would have been on the lower end of the roster will have to look to other options. That also may not be a bad thing if they are getting play time elsewhere.
