Years ago I read a study about Republicans and how they generally ascribe to a more authoritarian worldview, and how many were reared in homes that were authoritarian if not outright abusive (“spare the rod and spoil the child” as one facet) and how that’s how they vote. They don’t look for someone smart or a partner or anything like that, they tend to look for a leader. And that would track with their willingness to sit down and enjoy the rants of a crazy man.
I guess. He just doesn't even seem like a leader. He just seems like a guy who stands on a street corner smelling like urine and shouting at people.
