Don’t see this happening. LS is and will remain a club for the masses, they’ll just lose their “elite” level over time. Part of VRSC’s virtue is the limit on size imposed by their facility. The one big mistake they could make is to try to replace LS’s offering for the masses.

I’d take MJ and JU over any coach at the other GA clubs and over just about every ECNL girls coach in DMV. MJ has forgotten more about coaching than most coaches in DMV will ever know.

If you don’t see DC United and Washington Spirit on the horizon, you’re blind. They are on a path to being on an entirely different level than every club in NOVA.

Wow they have everything! Except the ONLY 3 things that matter. Good players, good coaching, and a good product on the field are nowhere to be found

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

By the way, their GA coaching staff is hands down the best ECNL or GA staff in the DMV. Please, tell me which club has a better girls staff and why?

Any where do you think the top boys coaches will go now that VRSC has two pro teams at the top of their pyramid?

Feel free to kid yourself, as you’ve done for the last year, but the writing is on the wall.

VRSC having the best boys or girls coaching staffs in the area is a funny thing to say.

2 pro teams? Loudoun United is a professional team. VRSC Pro isn’t a pro team. Pro teams have pro players that get paid.

I said girls, not boys. CC, MJ, and JU. Which club has a better girls staff in DMV? There is none. Boys staff will come with this news.

CC was in NOVA when there were only 2 ECNL programs and couldn’t win anything until BP showed up. MJ is a good second team coach.

Bethesda has a better staff. So does VDA.

SC, KL, and ML are good coaches, but they are not even remotely close to CC, MJ, and JU. Look at their resumes.

Funniest thing I have read all day. KL is actually one of the worst coaches/directors in the DMV. I’ve heard some crazy stories about him…SC has had more red cards, fights with other coaches, and can’t control his parents from insulting teenage girls from opposing teams. He was not able to turn around the 07s last year and the 12s are struggling as of late. KL hasn’t turned around the 09s either.

I’ll give you VDA though. Hate BP all you want but he is excellent. The other VDA coaches are better than anyone at Bethesda. FVU used to one of the best before the mergers. Arlington coaches seem to be up and coming if they can keep them.

NVA is awful for coaching. Maybe even worse than Bethesda or SYC. FVU is just confusing and all over the place now.

VRSC Girls coaches are probably 2nd in the area. It’s too bad they won’t get the talent that ECNL gets.

How cute you think you know our roster for next year.

As a parent of a GA player at VRSC, I wish the club had been able to get this news out earlier. Probably too late to meaningfully help rosters for 2025-26.

Do you think that girls rosters would add players because Revolution is now affiliated with a failing minor-league men’s professional team?

Combined, not affiliated. VRSC is the only club in the DMV that goes from ulittles to USL Championship professional club. Loudoun United was already close to DC United, and there is ownership overlap with DC Power FC, so it’s not hard to envision VRSC adding a women’s professional team to their pathway in short order. So, yes, I absolutely do think yesterday’s news will prompt players who previously wouldn’t have considered VRSC to give them a look. Within Loudoun County, why would anyone choose Loudoun GA over VRSC GA now? NVA will continue to have stronger teams for the time being, but I don’t see that being the case 3 years from now.

I’m sorry. Thought this was a DMV discussion. You’re right on this. VRSC will be top club in Loudoun County in the next 3 years. That has nothing to do with professional teams, though. I’m an outsider watching from another county. It is impressive to see what the club has been able to do over the last five years.

This is what I see. Last winter I remember there being rumors that VRSC would get GA and I didn’t really believe it because the girls program at that time was not very strong. But then they got all of FCV’s coaches and GA. And did ok for the first year, middle of the table. I see the same thing happening with the boys side where the program now is not very strong. But the coaching looks pretty good and now they have MLSN2 for next year. This club seems to be getting better and better very quickly.

Exactly. The naysayers like to compare quality of today’s VRSC teams to the quality of other clubs’ teams today, and the point to the shortfall as evidence that VRSC is bad, but that misses the point. Today doesn’t matter. Tomorrow matters. When VRSC is adding all these pieces while most other clubs are at best standing still and in many cases going backward (because of dysfunctional leadership), you have to be blind not to see where things are headed.

The haters are definitely not seeing the bigger picture. VRSC is playing chess while every other club is playing checkers. Potential future moves include the UPSL team gets moved into a lower USL tier to participate in the promotion/relegation system USL is adopting. Definitley expect to see a womens professional team brought into the club. Whether it's the Spirit or Power is still unknown. My bet is on Power if the league survives. Full pathways on the boys and girls side will make VRSC premiere club in DMV.

It won't happen overnight but you will see it happen over the next 5 years. Think about the U8 and U9 kids now and where they will want to play, VRSC.

Usl championship (Loudoun utd’s team) is not going to be 2nd tier of pro soccer in USA.

USL announced a new structure and USL-C will be the third tier.

VRSC won’t tell you this. Loudoun UTD won’t either but at least now they have a sucker who will absorb their 7 digits losses.

As a previous poster noted, VRSC gained an extra field but nothing else. Almost 10 years later not one single male or female player has been produced by the club worthy of mention

It’s a process. Talent comes from the program, so you have to build the program first. Best facility in DMV. Residential academy. GA program with arguably the best girls coaching slate in DMV. MLSN2 program starting next year. UPSL semi-pro men’s team. And now a USL Championship pro men’s team. All built from nothing over just a few years. No one in the DMV has or is building anything even remotely similar, other than DC United Academy. It takes time, but talent—outside talent that is attracted to the resources and inside talent that develops from the resources—will be the result.

Funny part is they haven’t ‘built’ anything. They’ve bought out each and every aspect. Let me guess, it’s development, right? That’s the keyword 🤡

What’s wrong with buying pieces? Lots of businesses are built on acquiring assets, people, products, etc. Real Madrid’s women’s program started with an acquisition.

The caliber of player/teams at the top local MLSN/ECNL teams is 2-3 levels above Revolution. Have a look at a schedule and catch a match. Sounds harsh, but Revolution is irrelevant to anyone outside of Leesburg and maybe Ashburn. No player or parent will choose Revolution over any top MLSN/ECNL club.
Merging with a USL club and maybe a girls pro club down the road doesn't move the needle at all.

The talent at the club today is irrelevant to what the club is building for the future. I completely agree that an MLSN caliber U15 player is not going to VRSC next season. 5-7 years from now, I think it will be a different story. Their girls program is well ahead of the boys, and that hill isn’t as steep to climb.

This doesn't make sense to me because they still have the same number of kids with Loudoun and VRSC combined, so why are they getting rid of so much field space?

Who is getting rid of field space? The combination is between VRSC and Loudoun United—the professional team, not the unrelated Loudoun Soccer Club youth program.

I’ve read on here a couple of times that they’re selling LSP. I have no idea why or if it’s true, but I think that’s what the poster is referring to.
