I looked at the larger photo and zoomed in.
It is pilling, and it looks even worse up close.
It’s really, really bad.
It's horrible. I don't know who told her that she looks good in camel, but they lied. I have her coloring, camel/beige is awful.
Ha. My mom and I had our colors analyzed for fun in Arlington, and my mom was just texting, "Usha needs to go to the woman we saw, that color is not for her :/" (Hey, Usha's friends, since I know y'all read here, or at least you were more obvious when she had her own thread: Tell your girl that she's a winter of some kind. She looks absolutely beautiful in jewel tones but camel makes her look like the ghost of an Oregon trail cholera victim.)
At this point I'm pretty sure that Usha just has a personal affinity for these colors that look terrible on her. She seems to really like camel/tan and pale pinky colors and they look so bad on her. Jewel tones do look beautiful on women with her skin tone. I don't get it.
I kind of get it. I used to love wearing pale blue. Turns out, I look really bad in pale blue...but I never wore the colors I looked good in, so I didn't realize how sickly I looked. So when I had my colors done and found out I was a spring, I was kind of disappointed. But the more I started wearing colors I looked good in, the more I got used to it.
I still wear pale blue sometimes, just away from my face. I think Usha should try like, camel pants and a jewel toned top. I think that would look pretty on her.
Yup, pp you responded to and I agree with all of this. Pale blue is also not my color, and who doesn’t love pale blue? But it’s just never going to be the best color for us. I am a winter/near fall and deep jewel tones look prettiest on me.
I also agree with the pp who suggested that these color choices are a weird, maybe subconscious attempt to emulate WASPY women. Deep jewel tones are of course emblematic of saris, and I think for the sake of her husband’s political career, Usha wants to stay as far away from suggesting or celebrating her ethnic origins as possible. This is a contrast from someone like Kamala Harris who at least occasionally wore Indian jewelry; we don’t really see someone like Usha doing that.
Which is insane to me because one of the few times she looked beautiful (and not just "okay") was when she wore an Indian designer. It was that beautiful purple gown for the Ohio Inaugural ball.
Yup, look at the massive difference when she is wearing a color that works:

Alright, I stand corrected.
The matching coats are cringe tho.
I’m assuming a staffer purchased them for this trip. They’re ugly. It’s perfect climate for a Canada Goose jacket. Why not get those?
I think it’s pretty clear someone made an affirmative decision to cosplay military so they had to get olive drab coats and wear them with a dirt tan sweater. It’s clearly intentional — the only question is whether the goal was to kiss up to the military (we’re just like you!) or to intimidate the Greenlanders (like those dictators who always wear military uniforms to show how tough they are).
Why Usha is playing along with this asinine sh$t is really an interesting question. I mean, clearly she’s all in on the con at this point, but she’s also smart enough to know how utterly stupid it is. Remember that old Suri Cruise paradox blog? Someone should start one for Usha. “Dear Gentle Reader, Today Dear Hubby and I left on our working vacation to Greenland…..”
