I am thankful for the series. I remember reading that the queen and some other cast were going to be POC and I wondered how I would feel about it. I am a big fan of the book series- read them (probably twice) many, many years ago when they were first released- read them again this summer when I heard they were going to be made into a series. I thought it would feel forced.
I am happy to be proven wrong. I thought this was so well done and well casted. In fact, I think Eloise and Colin were the only two characters that were not well casted.

Binged the whole thing. Trashy, fun. Hot sex scenes. Liked the casting, for a white middle age watcher it does help my world view I think. It’s hard to watch shows all the time where every Poc is a servant or criminal, just reinforces the stereotypes in our society and this breaks those.

I thought Benedict would be gay, and got the gay vibe also from Eloise. It would be good if in addition to racial choices in casting there was also an effort not to be all-heterosexual.

I loved it. Sorry haters. The Duke was the only good thing about winter break 2020 and I also loved all the period costumes and dancing.

I decided to watch this after reading about it here. I actually liked it and finished the series in a few days but didn’t think I would like it at all from the trailer. I actually don’t like period pieces much so I was glad there wasn’t any real historical fiction. The shows I normally watch probably aren’t critically acclaimed , though.

Oh, no, but he is so damaged! He grew up without love... but with all the money can buy, a poor little orphan. The problem is how come they don't make him more like a real, compelling character? I finished the long episode 3, or 4, can't remember and he is so shallow, as is she. Sorry, but somehow other authors make rich dukes more compelling! Plus, all aristocrats grew up mostly without their parents during that time. It takes some skill to make a regency romance this boring!

I think it takes more skill to be bored and to find fault with trash tv. You watch for eye candy. Not to nitpick a shallow story.

Normally, yes, I do too. But, when you can't get through it despite that much eye candy??

Then you’re on your own. The duke is more than enough. But, I also enjoy the shallow story.

Slow?! They meet, court and get married within 4 episodes. I wish they had slowed it down more.
