Ugh I really hope I’m not adding fuel to a fire. I still completely believe in the mission. While I’m white my kids and sibling are not, and I still believe police abuse is one of the most pressing issues of our time. But there are definitely people in this space trying to capitalize on white guilt and act out their aggression.

They are angry at you because they perceive that you "took away" a black man, rather than recognizing that you probably endure as much racism as a white person with a mixed race child as those who are black. Sadly, you're shunned by both groups.
I want to be clear that I and my family absolutely do not “endure as much racism” as an entirely black family. That’s an absurd and untrue claim.
But at the same time it’s absolutely the case that the movement has a toxic element that lashes out angrily at white moms of children of color however that came to be (adoption, stepmoms, bio moms of mixed race kids).
There are many legitimate reasons to object to transracial adoption. To suggest that these objections are “toxic” and “angry” is just another take on the angry black woman trope.

LA person again- Pretty much every protest in my neighborhood has been planned and organized by white people because it’s all white people where I live. If we want to protest in support of BLM we can do that and don’t need rules to do so. We are out every day protesting here and no one needs your rules. Why make people feel bad about how they are supporting black people in the community?

The movement, just like many other movements lately (women's movement for example), has a toxic element that will not accept you if you do not fully endorse all of their views/positions without question. And if you're white, that makes it even worse. The end result is that we can no longer agree to disagree or have disparate views under the same tent. So folks stay home.
