Well then you better take sick leave.....the answer is exposure to someone who tested positive.

Rumors are at my agency exposure isn’t enough. We won’t change anything until we have a confirmed employee diagnosis and even then it sounds like things will be case by case. Even though we have highly independent work and telework capabilities. I’m so upset with upper management right now for not taking this thing seriously beyond a couple email reminders to wash our hands!

Are you SSA? It sounds like my agency.

Yup. Glad they finally announced some expansion of telework, but silly it only applies to some select employees when we are in a unique position in that most people have work that can be done fully remote.

Can I know how you got a job there? My selfish cousins have jobs there by referring one another. They don't want to refer anyone else instead indicating they apply through USA jobs. Both have high school degrees with no prior government experience. Only one used to be army.

What is going to happen to us who work in agencies where telework is impossible sounds like we are just being told "oh well" and just come to work and pretend nothing is happening

This article explains a lot about OPM’s response:

Federal personnel chief quits abruptly amid coronavirus planning for the workforce of 2.1 million

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/federal-personnel-chief-quits-abruptly-in-the-midst-of-coronarivus-planning-for-the-workforce-of-21-million/2020/03/17/9f9dce98-689d-11ea-b313-df458622c2cc_story.html

“Office of Personnel Management chief Dale Cabaniss resigned in frustration following months of tension with the White House budget office and more recently with its newly configured staffing office and a political appointee the office installed at OPM in the last month, according to three people familiar with her decision. Cabaniss thought that she was being micromanaged and that her authority was not respected, the people said.“

We were explicitly told that.

I didn’t. The man doesn’t care about feds at all

Has there been much out of OPM at all? It seems like all the decisions are being made on an agency-by-agency basis.

They have guidance that most agencies do not appear to be following.

Same. Although we still don't have flexibility with work hours, which is annoying seeing as most of what I do doesn't matter if I do it at 10am or 8pm. DH has a maxi-flex schedule, but can't telework so he'll still be going in. We'll figure it out somehow, but with two kids under 5 at home I expect we'll both need to take some leave. I think it's important to take care of ourselves and not burn out trying to get 8hrs in every day because that makes you more susceptible to getting sick.

Otherwise, me and everyone I work with are going to burn through all our annual leave really quickly (can't take sick leave since nobody is actually sick).

+1,000,000. And as my spouse is still overseas, all the childcare is on me.

If we can telework, why are we not being allowed to voluntarily telework???? Would work rather us take off and use annual leave? That just means the work is not getting done.

Can anyone confirm if that building has gone to telework status?

Per Google, that's a DHS building. They could've ended a lease there and moved elsewhere, unrelated.

Department-Homeland Security
301 7th St SW, Washington, DC 20407

The building was previously occupied by both GSA and DHS; GSA recently moved out. DHS is still requiring us to report in person, despite TW capabilities. Outside of our routinely scheduled TW days, we must come into the office. They're taking the same approach as many other agencies -until an actual confirmed case presents itself in OUR building, they're not going to send us home or allow 100% TW. It's only a matter of time...
