But, I agree that STA should do better athletically. I always respected their program in the 90's. I think there are just so many decent private schools now and single sex schools aren't as attractive either. People aren't willing to send their kids there with the primary goal of college placement anymore if it's not a good fit.
This is where you are wrong. Prep’s academics are excellent and similar to STA’s. STA folks hate to hear this and will never admit it, always saying how far superior their academics are. It’s really their only strength so they have to hold on to it and believe it with all their might. It’s part of the reason why they always bring up academics when they loose a game. It’s also exaggerated statements from parents and students or average students who are struggling. Do they have the edge academically sure, but are they in another league or far superior, absolutely not. As pp said, also know boys who picked Prep over STA because it is more well rounded and has better athletics and strong academics, among other things.
