Does it seem to anyone else like there are way more WTF? rejections this year than previous years?

His DRA score is 38, all 4s on his report cards since K.
Could someone please explain why this child did not qualify for advanced academics?

But at this time do not know GBRS. Interestingly enough, school led me to believe prior to submitting application that they would most likely get in.

Did you get the gbrs?
You can request the packet.
I am guessing my kid had poor work samples and less than stellar gbrs so he was rejected with high test scores.
UPDATE:
Requested packet. 4 consistently observed with great comments from the school. Baffled about the result.

No one can explain this. Your AART is probably as baffled as everyone else is. Your kid looks like a shoo-in on paper. I would appeal with a letter, work samples, and whatever else you can find, and then hope that a new panel of reviewers will fix the mistake of the previous panel. All areas on the CogAT were strong, and a composite of 142 is in the 99th percentile locally.. GBRS looks strong, too. I'd set up a meeting with the AART to ask for advice on appealing.

Anonymous wrote:It isn’t advanced academics. Not sure what it is. With low scores getting in and high scores getting rejected, it simply isn’t. There will be lawsuits and rightly so. It gives certain kids access to a better education and there doesn’t seem to be a rational basis for it. Someone is going to bring the whole thing down. And considering it costs the county a fortune to maintain this two-tiered system, I hope it does get tossed out. And no, we weren’t rejected. We decided the whole system was a farce and went private.
