Offers do not get made until June.

Only outside non-current DA players can/will get offers.

June? Where did you get that date from? We've always received offers sooner than that.

Because that is when offers to current players were made last year. That is where I effing heard that date from. Outside, non-DA kids can get offers at anytime.

I'm with Spirit and we got our letters ahead of that. In fact, the whole club got announcements of when offers would be made to current players and it was well ahead of June. I'm sorry that hurts your feelings.

Then offer the rough date when you got the offer and answer the actual question then.

Beginning of May. That's why I asked you where June came from, in case that was the plan for this year. It wasn't to offend or attack. I don't read every single email I get from Spirit, so I thought I'd missed one.

This year, I would like to see the process improve. Tom held out because he wanted to get everyone he could and then redistribute the rosters as he saw fit, right or wrong. Maybe he was told to. I can't say.

I want greater transparency this year. I want to know who is on my DD's roster or I want to take her somewhere that will tell me. It matters because the roster determines the training environment.

This. I’d like to see what players are committed as that will make a huge impact on our decision. Are they actually DA caliber or not.

How about you talk to the other parents on your team and see what their views are. They may not tell you outright (some will), but I think you can get a good sense based on their comments and facial expressions.

I’d rather find out who the club intends to keep, rather than what parents/kids want to stay. Those that want to stay may not be DA caliber kids. If the rosters are actually going to be trimmed, I want to know where.

July 2nd? Wow! I had no idea. I really didn't ask the question to open a can of warms. I asked because I thought I had missed an announcement. My apologies friend. I hope this year will offer up greater transparency for everyone. I'd rather my own DD get cut than strung along.

Those who asked the coaching staff directly were told what their DD's status likely was before offers went out but as far as an official offer with the ability to drop the deposit, well that was in July.

Certainly kids knew before then where they stood but only outside non-DA players received offers before May.

Much of this timeline is done because a DA player can only openly tryout at another DA club after the season has ended.

In the interest of transparency, I was talking about official letters from the club with actual offers. We had conversations before May, and you are right. Every player can and should find out where they stand and if they are a bubble player, try out at a local ECNL or something to keep playing in a national league. I'm not going to post any further, as I don't see the value. Spirit did a lot of things last year and even this year that I need to see change to commit to another year.

Best of luck to everyone. I hope you all find the best fit for your special DDs.

That's a valid point. Maybe as parents we should ask for one.

.

Woah, testy!

I think what we found out with that answer is that his daughter was one of the last kids to get an offer, and hence the testy exchange.

No, that's why I followed up on the June statement.
