I have very low processing speed. I work in a job that requires long-term deadlines and deep dives. I rarely get asked for answers on the spot. Instead, I write long reports and do a lot of research. It works quite well. There are many niches in a country of over 300 million people, so please don’t think you’re daughter can’t find one.

Our DD also tests well below our other child and myself for that matter.

One of the biggest gifts you can give her is high expectations and structural supports to reach her goals.

I understand your concern but it is too early. Also, intelligence does not equal to success.
Some people are not smart/nerds but they do very well. She can go into sales.. or any career. Just be there for her and don't worry about it.

What ARE is gifts? Explore careers that use those. My aunt had many academic disabilities but zero cognitive or other deficits. She has a wonderful, fulfilling job in a geriatric care setting and is gifted beyond measure in this badly needed career.

np there is nothing wrong with being a SAHM but you want to prepare her to be able to be independent. What if her husband dies? What if he is abusive? So, this is not a good goal in the 21st century. Op, you dd is only 12. Isn't it a bit premature to write her off? I feel sorry for your dd that you think only 'geniuses' can make a living and "thrive" in life.

OP: is your daughter attractive? You might want to encourage her to stay fit and take care of her appearance as best she can, with a goal of attracting the right suitor.

If she’s good in bed you have nothing to worry about.

There are engineers whose only criteria is 5 IQ points less than his. Can you be an involved grandma? How is she at sales? Many feel it too monotonous and are so under-stimulated they go to grad-school. Sales people make good money.

OP, the biggest influence- in your daughter's childhood and teen years- on what your daughter sets her sights on in life later on IS YOU, whether you treat her like she is worthy and that YOU as the center of her life value her.

Not, whether her IQ is 110 or 120.

As for being pretty, plenty of pretty girls allow themselves to be horribly abused. Why ? Because their parents taught them every day by their own actions that they weren't worth anything to them.

This is an old post , but hopefully anyone reading it now GETS This.

Social skills, attractiveness and a good personality/humor will take you so, so much farther than most of the academic skills that people overly focus on.

I also agree about being reliable.
