There was no justification for this. The kid was asleep. The police didn’t identify themselves. It’s just so infuriating.

Get a return call from a mental health provider when seeking help. It’s tough for many black people to seek help in the first place, given that stigma is often a big deal—looks like even when we decide to seek help, we may not be able to engage a therapist.

As he drove home afterward, Dauphin recounted on Instagram, an officer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police pulled him over, saying someone nearby had called authorities “because … a suspicious black man in a white car was parked at the Wharf for a couple hours. My response, Really? I was just reading a book.”
