I do not read this is a slam on a club or the player. I think the point is that a "wall" self improvement work on stick skills is a good way to ensure that coaches will be interested. The Library is more important recruitment tool. When this is mastered, coaches will not only be interested but they will make an offer. VLC or any club provides exposure but the key to getting recruited is the wall and the books.

The wall reference is as you surmised - ya have to have the skills to get recruited. It’s on you. The library reference is also an “it’s on you” point. Do your own research. Find the best fit. Be proactive. Don’t expect anyone to get you recruited except yourself.

It's meant to be a slam on a certain club who has a college coordinator and likes to charge >$1k more than any other club for said coordinator.

The numbers in the past are impressive. But the 2020 list so far is almost nonexistent. At the same time I noticed that Next Level's 2020 list is as good as any other club in the DMV. Maybe this is just an odd year. But if Next Level has in fact been able to siphon off talent from VLC, it's something I would not have expected even a few years ago.

Up until the recruiting rule change the answer would be NO not possible. With the new recruiting rules it would be possible IF the player is on a top HS program that plays in summer tournaments like MIAA, WCAC, IAC schools. However, the investment would be far more than club.

Truth is most recruiting comes from a player working hard and getting good grades. I think even the folks over at VLC would agree with this. VLC and ML along with DCE and NL all provide ample opportunity for a player to get recruited if the player does the right things and can play. In the current landscape of later recruiting showcases and prospect days are the primary place where coaches make final evaluations. Some clubs do help players develop and teams develop by playing top level competition. I suggest choose the team that is the best fit and any of these teams can provide the exposure. Anything outside of these teams in the DMV area might not provide the same exposure and a player has to work harder to get noticed.

I think you need to work on your reading comprehension. By my reading they weren't speaking about VLC other than recruiting track record and they encouraged trying out for a few of the teams because the only way to find out about any of these teams is go to the tryouts, talk to the parents and give them a shot instead of relying on the chirping (good or bad) of keyboard tough guys who apparently are more interested in stirring the pot than they are at giving commentary about the subject of this thread which is "Feedback on VLC Club Lacrosse." It seems perhaps you know a lot about the inner workings of VLC or club lacrosse as a whole. Most of us here are parents looking for insight not looking for people who are clearly coaches/staff of these clubs being nasty to each other.

Same parent organization but in practice separate clubs. Not uncommon for them to play each other in tournaments. Crabs are generally regarded as the better club overall, I think.
