A) This is not what affirmative action "says"
B) Holistic admission accounts for more than just grades and GPA because schools want interesting, dynamic, students who aren't just book smart - regardless of race. I know I am glad the school I went to looked at more than just grades and test scores.
C) Kids drop out of schools for all sorts of reasons but not one of them is affirmative action. You are spewing nonsense. In fact, if schools also focused on supporting kids once they were admitted and not exposing them to the kind of prejudiced views you hold, they might feel more included in the college community.
She is not spewing nonsense. Affirmative action needs to end because it is an institutionalized form of racism and no longer needed.
+ 1 Students admitted under affirmative action policies graduate at much lower rates. Why this should surprise anyone is odd. After all, they were admitted with lower grades and scores that would have put them in the reject pile if they were white, Asian, or Jewish. This very reliable source says that the lowest completion rate, defined at graduating four years from when one started a specific institution, is lowest among black males (40%) and highest among Asian females (75%).
it's a fair argument as to whether we continue to "owe" blacks preferential treatment (and if so, for how many more generations), but AA is a costly policy, admitting students who are less likely to graduate and denying students more likely to graduate.

Are you claiming there are hoards of white high school students who don't get into college at all because of AA? So they end up not getting a college education? Seems to me that is an applicant can't even get into a single college perhaps he wasn't ready for higher education.
No, but a black applicant admitted to a top-tier school under lower standards, where the white student is rejected, is definitely costing that white student a slot. Now you can argue that the white student can go to a 2nd-tier school, but I am saying why should the black kid get to go to the better school and the white kid to a lesser school despite the fact that the white kid had higher grades and scores? Patently unfair and racist.

....if the Asian Americans are the most qualified and smartest, fine.
See, white parents say that. And then you end up with a TJ class that is 75% Asian. And white parents lose their sh*t. I wonder how you would feel if you had a smart, well qualified white kid who was not admitted to a top school that wa75% Asian. Very few white parents are okay with this IRL. You are EXACTLY right - and it has played out many times on DCUM. Whites want to emphasize test scores and "objective" criteria when it comes to Blacks and Latinos. But when it comes to competition with Asians, they want to emphasize the whole student. All you have do is read the old threads about Asian's lawsuits against Harvard and it is readily clear. Some Whites want to use whatever criteria gives them an advantage against a particular group.
It is white Jewish students that are let in unfairly to the top schools. According to Hillel International the Ivy's are 28% Jewish even though they make up only 2% of the population. The Ivy's like to claim diversity but only if the majority of the " white spots" are given unfairly to Jewish students. Non Jewish whites are discriminated against. So all the Asian students who complain that they are discriminated against should look at the group that is keeping them out. [b]It is also BS that Jewish students are smarter than African Americans. Jewish students just have more privileges than African Americans in this country. [b]If all were fair in this country with quality education for all and fair college admission practices then the top schools would mirror the racial/ethnic makeup of this country which is actually very diverse. We are not a country made up of 28% white Jewish people but that is what the Ivy's look like.

The only race it benefits are Asians. For white people it's a wash.
the principle is wrong no matter who does or doesn't benefit.
we are quickly devolving into a country where nothing matters except for which 'clan' is 'winning' or not.
this is akin to the muslim world.
Oh, I completely agree with you. My point is, if white people think this change in life policy will benefit them, they are deluding themselves. I wonder though if it does go through and Asians compete out Caucasians whether the policy will be reversed.
I think the only way colleges will be able to counteract removing race from admissions is by putting much more emphasis on family income.

Or you could say that the white, black, and Hispanic kids are taking away admissions slots for Asian Americans....
....if the Asian Americans are the most qualified and smartest, fine.

The only race it benefits are Asians. For white people it's a wash.
the principle is wrong no matter who does or doesn't benefit.
we are quickly devolving into a country where nothing matters except for which 'clan' is 'winning' or not.
this is akin to the muslim world.

It says here are our normal standards to get in SAT/ACT wise and GPA wise. However, since you are black or hispanic you do not need to meet the normal standards because you can't and so we allow you to come in with lower scores and GPAs. This is in effect telling minorities they are inferior to Whites because they do not need to have the same scores or grades. How many of these Affirmative action kids drop out after a semester or year as well cause they did not go to a place they truly fit in?
